The Rock on WWE: "Many of the Boys Don't Understand the 'Business' Part"
In the never-ending story of The Rock returning to WWE, it seems we have yet another layer to digest. Today, Rocky sent out a tweet saying, "Incredible to me how many of the boys don't get the 'business' part of our business."
That is straight from The Rock's Twitter account!
It seems as if that message was in reply to Shane Helms, Lance Storm and WWE discussing his return to the company. I do not follow any WWE or TNA talents, so seeing this come across my timeline from another user was interesting.
My Thoughts on This News
Just like most things, WWE and The Rock are correct.
Anybody in the WWE locker room questioning his return needs to take one hard look at their paycheck without The Rock appearing and again with his name on the card.
If you are still upset with him "stealing a spot," then rip up the check and go home. That is my answer to all the claims against him being there.
However, I highly doubt any wrestler in the back would do such a thing. No, they will "whine" and "complain," yet still accept the larger payouts thanks to The Rock being there.
Makes sense, right?
The Rock returning means huge business. That is what his message was relaying. If business was booming, and everything was firing on all cylinders, he wouldn't have had to come back.
The fact is that WWE needs him right now.
With a WWE Films division on its last legs and a WWE Network in limbo, that is tens of millions of dollars invested with no return in sight.
Could they be on the right track in a few months? Yes.
Could they hit a gold mine by next year? Yes.
They certainly could be doing record-setting business in the near future. However, that time is not now. WWE is a business.
It is such a shame so many people forget that. Forget "fantasy booking," "wins," and "losses" for a minute. Your goal is to make money. That's it!
Rocky being with WWE means money. Hence, the business part!
As far as Rocky "holding guys down," again, it is yet another excuse. He was gone for seven years. Seven years! What was your excuse during that time frame?
He has been on a handful of Raw shows in the past year. If you aren't getting over in that time, maybe you shouldn't be finger pointing? It is just a sad reminder why some wrestlers turn out to be such wasted potential, while others seize the moment and succeed.
Just my opinion.
In conclusion, WWE is going to make major bank on The Rock vs. John Cena. Throw in appearances by Undertaker, Triple H, Chris Jericho and other legends, and you have a show for the ages!
If any "star" in the back isn't happy, rip up your newly inflated paycheck and leave. If you aren't willing to do that, I suggest working hard, showing up on time and not worrying about a "spot" you may or may not even deserve.
