WWE: After Jesse Sorensen's Injury, Should They Wait Longer to Do Injury Angles?
There has been an ample amount of time for the image of Jesse Sorensen's injury to enter our conscience and make us all realize that yes, at times, wrestling is real.
While injuries like these are rare, they are still a reminder that while outcomes are scripted and the kayfabe of yesteryear is not gone, we still watch with amazement as these athletes and performers are hit on nightly basis with chairs, put through tables and dropped on the concrete floor like a hot potato. And in some measure of suspended animation, they all seem to survive.
Jesse Sorensen almost didn't, and therefore, maybe wrestling in general needs to take a hard line look at the idea of injuries to other wrestlers as a bad idea unless they are truly injured. I'm not just talking about the WWE, but wrestling as a whole.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
When the Elimination Chamber match between Raw competitors got heated and Chris Jericho was "kicked" out of the match by CM Punk and the "impression" of Jericho's injury was much more severe than it turned out (if there really was an injury), we all could have seen this being done in poor taste or an angle that just did not come off correctly; or the WWE saw the error of its ways and went in a different direction.
Whatever the reasons, injuries, in light of what happened to Sorensen, need to be handled with kid gloves. The Zack Ryder situation is a prime example, but it also had merit since it was a continuation of a storyline that developed long before the Sorensen incident.
Either way, I doubt you will see a spot like that in the WWE for some time.
The WWE has been hit with a large amount of "true" injuries like Rey Mysterio, Christian, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, Sin Cara, Alberto Del Rio and Wade Barrett. It has meant lots of shuffling, lost storylines and changes that were unexpected. The "faking of an injury" is not needed right now and it should not be considered anytime soon. The WWE has also had to deal with Kharma, Evan Bourne and R-Truth.
If the WWE wants to continue the realism of its programs and keep the "dream" of injuries alive, fine. But wait for a roster of wrestlers who are a lot healthier. CM Punk appears to be injured every week, and Dolph Ziggler has been running on injury as well. The company can ill-afford to lose anyone else. And before they decide to "injure" their superstars, let's just hope they are reminded again of what is fake and what is real in the world of professional wrestling.
