WWE: If Triple H didn't Wrestle The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 28, Who would?

Giulio RomanoJun 4, 2018

This past Monday on RAW, The Undertaker returned to the ring and got what he wanted: Triple H accepting his challenge for one more match at WrestleMania XXVIII.

Being the cerebral assassin that he is, Hunter quickly added a stipulation of his own to make their third encounter the very last one for all time; it is now a Hell in a Cell match...there will be no mercy, no forgiveness and no turning back.

Before that encounter, nothing had been set in stone, and the match between these legends could have just remained speculation.

What if? What if The Game just told the Phenom to take a hike? No doubt there would have been hell to pay for Triple H, but someone else might have stepped up to the plate and challenged Undertaker and his legendary streak.

Besides the WWE championship, it is the richest prize in the game. Nothing can top that honor. For the following characters, it could have made all the difference in their careers.

Flip to continue.

The Phenom's Younger Brother, Kane

1 of 5

Kane, the big red monster still has no place on the current WrestleMania card and for a while there, it could have been he who challenged The Undertaker in 2012.

Like Triple H, this would have been his third attempt at The Streak and with his new look and mask, would have been quite appropriate. Last time these two fallen brothers waged war, The Phenom was buried alive and not seen again for months. No one ever got closure on that.

Undertaker vs. Kane III definitely has its fan base. Going the HHH route is a fine idea but this one could easily have been equally excellent. There is so much history between the brothers of destruction. Who is to say legendary manager, Paul Bearer wouldn't have made a cameo or two for this one.

Triple H may have won the bid for WrestleMania XXVIII but what are the chances the two brothers collide once more at say SummerSlam?

Come on now...one last hurrah for the brother from hell.

An Old Nemesis in Mick Foley

2 of 5

The man of many faces, even if they were all mangled.

Mick Foley has endured a greater than great career whether in or out of WWE and has recently returned home.

During the Attitude Era, he and The Undertaker had one of the highest profiled feuds ever seen and it culminated in incredible matches with stunts never pulled before. The video used for the slide goes back to the King Of The Ring pay-per-view of 1998 and it is one of the most talked about matches in Foley's illustrious career. The chances of repeating this are slim to none but just hyping it would have proven to be quite successful.

Neither legend are as ready and able as they once were physically but the heart is still there. They would put on a great show and certainly appeal to many older fans crying for the days of old. True veterans such as themselves never leave room for failure and it would be an instant hit.

Mick Foley will most probably participate at this year's WrestleMania. Whether he wrestles one more match or not is still a mystery as is the opponent he would chose but in any case, it will be a great moment in pro-wrestling history.

A Legend in His Own Right, Chris Jericho

3 of 5

Y2J is a master puppeteer and manipulator. He knows how to play the game as does The Undertaker but one thing the ayatollah of rock-and-rollah doesn't have on his resume is wrestling the Phenom at WrestleMania.

It's not like he needs this accomplishment to be known as a legend, he is already one but with his recent return and vow to destroy the world, one could easily have imagined he came back not for CM Punk but for Undertaker' streak and nothing less.

What an amazing showdown this could be. Chris Jericho taking on the deadman on the grandest stage of them all...has a nice ring to it no? When it comes down to it, every year The Streak is on the line people expect quality. You can't have just anybody in there, it has to be someone worthy or of high-profile.

Chris Jericho could have been that man and with him to work with closely, Undertaker could have delivered some of his best work yet. All of it in true sportsmanship.

Time may be ticking out for both of them and who know what's in store for the fans at WrestleMania XXIX, which now has a home in the New York, New Jersey area.

Could WWE pull another year-long feud by announcing this for next year right away? To put it mildly, it would be awesome!

The Deadliest of Predators, Randy Orton

4 of 5

Randy Orton is a veteran Superstar and currently on the sideline with a concussion.

As the top face of SmackDown, his role is very important and not being in any title matches lately may have been done to allow the fans to believe he would have challenged The Undertaker this year.

Last time they faces on the big stage, Orton, as the legend killer, lost his battle but who is to say the war is over? Time has passed since then and The Viper has honed his skills tremendously. The Phenom would not be facing the same man and with the proper turn to darkness, Randy Orton could become the deadliest predator in all of WWE.

There are a lot of interesting things to see in a potential Orton-Taker bout at WrestleMania. Namely the look of fear in their eyes once either one kicks out of finishers. It's not everyday you get to see the look of worry in the eyes of Randy Orton or The Undertaker for that matter. Only two others (HHH and HBK) got that out of them and they are legends.

Randy Orton is on his way up there and someday he will get another crack at the man from the dark side. Will it be at a WrestleMania no one knows but no one can deny the impact such a match would make.

An Outside Force to Be Reckoned With?

5 of 5

Who could WWE find outside time and space to come in and challenge the lord and master of WrestleMania?

See the slide show picture? Playing THQ's WWE'12 is as close as one will get to ever seeing The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar in the same ring again. There definitely has been rumors and teases on this potential encounter. Watch here.

***A side note: Did you notice Michelle McCool in there?

The impact a match of such importance would make on the mainstream would be astronomical. Just John Cena could be as big and that one hasn't happened yet. Anything can happen in WWE, it has been said time and again but there are only a certain amount of Manias left in Taker's career so the chances of having someone bigger and bigger every year are very high.

Triple H and Undertaker will perhaps give everyone the best match of the night. The Phenom will win it for sure and it should be the last we see of the COO should his words be true (we go all the way = Streak vs. Career, no turning back.)

On April 1st, 2012 in Miami, there will be hell in a cell and out of the fire will stand the lord of the dead, The Undertaker.

20-0 period!
