Philadelphia Eagles to Sign Trent Edwards as Michael Vick's Backup?
Who will be Michael Vick’s backup in 2012? This has been a major question for the Philadelphia Eagles but has been overshadowed by other topics such as Juan Castillo’s status and DeSean Jackson’s contract situation.
Still, little is known about who will be the No. 2 quarterback for the Eagles.
Vince Young won a game and lost two as a starter in 2011. His overall performance was below average. It’s a mystery whether he will return for the upcoming season.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Mike Kafka had limited playing time, and while he is talented, it’s not certain if Andy Reid trusts him to back up Vick. Personally, I’d like to see that, but I’m not the one who makes the calls.
That said, Philadelphia may opt to sign a quarterback from the free-agency pool to man the backup spot. Trent Edwards, the ex-Bills quarterback, had some workouts with the Eagles back in January; despite that, no offer was made to the player.
However, the Eagles’ general manager, Howie Roseman, said that he expects a deal to be signed soon—a deal that will provide a new option and will definitely increase competition among the signal-caller group.
Trent Edwards is 29 years old and has played for the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Oakland signed him last year but cut him. Edwards was a free agent the entire 2011 NFL season—that allows him to sign before the free-agency window opens.
