WWE Elimination Chamber 2012 Results: What's Next for Superstars of RAW Chamber
The era of CM Punk continues tonight as the Straightedge Superstar retained his coveted WWE championship against five other participants.
Not only did he face former World Champions in some cases, but his challengers were among the best RAW has to offer. It is pretty much smooth sailing from here to Miami for the walking pipe bomb.
However, in an Elimination Chamber match, one person's win means five others lost.
What lies ahead for them now?
R-Truth
1 of 6This athletic superstar has had a nice run since June 2011, but it is unfortunately coming to an end, and it will be back to the mid-card for him.
The feud with former partner The Miz was not brought up during the match and "Little Jimmy" was eliminated first. Such fate is never good news, especially in the weeks heading into WrestleMania.
On a positive note, should there be a Money in the Bank ladder match at the show of shows this year, expect this one to be a part of it. Maybe forming another tag team could be good for him or going after Jack Swagger's United States championship.
Whatever it is, there are not going to be any more World/WWE title matches in this gentleman's near future.
Dolph Ziggler
2 of 6This young man has shown promise over the last six months.
What was noticeable during this match was how many times he was thrown into a wall or a railing. He hardly did anything other than chin-ups and leg raises. CM Punk made an example of him, and that's too bad. Dolph Ziggler has many believers out there, and they were all disappointed tonight.
He's another strong candidate to be part of a MITB ladder match, but my personal choice is to have him face someone high-up like Randy Orton at WrestleMania XXVIII.
If he is to be a World Champion again, my guess is it will be later this year or 2013. The crowd is quite silent with him still. Perhaps facing someone like Orton could do him wonders.
Kofi Kingston
3 of 6Having been a successful Tag Team Champion with Evan Bourne, it seemed like the division was going to be revived thanks to Kofi Kingston.
He is the best the mid-card has to offer, and if he is ever meant to make it to the top, then the next MITB briefcase belongs to him.
Watching his matches is always exciting because he comes up with good ways to entertain the fans night after night. Whether he carries the "It" factor remains to be seen, but he said it best himself: "I have been overlooked for far too long..." Let's hope the powers that be are going to give this one a chance to shine.
Once Evan Bourne returns, will Kofi Kingston retake part of the great team, or will he venture forth into greener pastures?
Chris Jericho
4 of 6From reading some other writers' predictions it seems like many had this one penciled in to win the WWE championship tonight. A logical way to go the Punk-Jericho direction for Mania, but it wasn't meant to me.
Instead, Y2J was kicked in the head unto a cameraman and passed out, which resulted in his removal from the match. This now allows for the "best in the world" program to continue, as no score was settled here.
No matter how you spin it, Chris Jericho will be in the main event of WrestleMania XXVIII and WWE Champion once again this year. His return was well received, and he must have negotiated quite the contract to lure him away from other endeavors.
Don't you just hate when WWE leaves things so unclear as they did tonight? The potential to have such a great showdown between Miz, Punk and Y2J ruined. Sigh!
Tomorrow night is Monday Night RAW...things will come full circle at last.
The Miz
5 of 6Having been in the proverbial dog house for weeks now, The Miz was singled-out as the first man to be eliminated, no doubt about it, but he succeeded in proving everyone wrong one more time.
His performance tonight was good, and he almost had CM Punk defeated following a Skull-Crushing Finale.
While Jericho was still in the match, it seemed like one of my dreams was about to come true and there would have been some sort of "thing" happening between Miz, Y2J and Punk. It would have been very exciting. Maybe it will come tomorrow night on RAW.
WrestleMania XXVIII will be very important for The Miz. No championship in hand, he will have to win big, and hopefully that is where someone like Mick Foley can come in. Putting a younger star over is a noble gesture and could signal the beginning of a new push.
Look for him to continue that little streak he's got going (3-0 this year), because I don't see the point otherwise.
No more missing spots or being less inspired Awesome One, your career depends on it.
Who Will the Champ Face in Miami?
6 of 6Six weeks remain before the ground shakes in Miami, Florida.
Tomorrow night's show will answer some questions as we count down the episodes of RAW until April 1st.
There is a score to settle between CM Punk and Chris Jericho. The battle has just begun, and no amount of censure will stop these two from destroying each other.
The champion survived his Elimination Chamber, but how long can he continue to claim he is the best in the world? In a few weeks he will have to prove it, and it should be the showdown of the year.
Yes, you heard it here first.
