CM Punk and Daniel Bryan Must Retain Titles at WWE Elimination Chamber 2012

Michael DixonJun 7, 2018

If the men who walk into the Elimination Chamber on Sunday with the WWE's grandest belts don't leave the Bradley Center with those titles, then something is terribly wrong.

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan have a tremendous amount of momentum built up. Upon entering WrestleMania, you want your champions to be on a roll. When both of them are, there is no possible excuse to take their titles from them.

More important than the momentum is that Punk and Bryan title retentions will lead to two great matches at WrestleMania. Let's start with the WWE Title and Punk.

WrestleMania Match That Must Happen: CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho

Between Twitter and WWE programming, this feud has been teased for too long to not come to a head at Wrestlemania. Both men are absolutely brilliant on the microphone and are two of the best in-ring workers that the WWE has on the roster.

As far as how Jericho will earn this rematch, there are a few ways to go about it, but here's the best way.

Does anyone remember this gem that Jericho fired off a few weeks ago?

Did you happen to note that he went out of his way to slam every single Elimination Chamber opponent?

We already know that Jericho will enter the Elimination Chamber last, so here's how that will go down.

The five men will be in the ring beating each other down. Then Jericho will enter, the five men will all stop everything, look at each other and beat Y2J down, taking him out of the match as a form of payback for him ripping them.

Jericho will take his complaint to John Laurinaitis, who will grant him a one-on-one title shot with Punk. Like Jericho, Laurinaitis is a heel so this won't take any explanation.

Bam. It's done and one of two title matches is made.

Now, let's take a look at the other.

Wrestlemania Match That Must Happen: Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus

This one is the opposite. Bryan has been bogged down with Mark Henry and The Big Show for a long time and it's time to move on.

Sheamus has already won the Royal Rumble so he is locked into a title match. Bryan has already shown that he can work with big men in Henry and Big Show; Sheamus has a similar style and is more mobile.

Sheamus and Bryan are both underappreciated on the microphone, but fantastic in the ring. Bryan is the perfect, frustrating heel champion. Sheamus is on enough of a roll that people will tune in to see the challenger take the belt from Bryan.

These matches would change things up. With John Cena taking on The Rock, the WWE can afford to give the title matches at WrestleMania a new look, which is what they need to do.

None of those four names are new to the main event, but they're not Cena, Randy Orton or Triple H, who have dominated the scene for a long time.
