Why Jeremy Lin and Blake Griffin Make NBA Rising Stars Challenge Must-See TV
Jeremy Lin will be throwing the ball up to Blake Griffin, and that alone is enough to make the NBA Rising Stars Challenge must-see TV. Pretty much anything with Jeremy Lin right now is must-see TV.
If that's not enough for you, when Lin is not lobbing it up for Griffin, Ricky Rubio will be there to do the same. And when Rubio isn't there to lob up the ball for Griffin, Kemba Walker will be lobbing up the ball.
On Team Shaq there are a lot of point guards, which means a lot of players lobbing up the ball for Griffin.
On Team Chuck you might have an even more entertaining, albeit less celebrated team. With Kyrie Irving you have a brilliant young rookie who has been playing beneath the radar in Cleveland, but playing very well.
In the history of the NBA there are two rookies that have averaged 18 points and five assists per game while shooting over .500 from the field. Irving right now, at 18.2, 5.1 and .498, has a chance to be the third. The other two? Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan.
Irving will be joined by breakout Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, who has been playing brilliantly this year. Team Chuck will also have MarShon Brooks to play the shooting guard, Derrick Williams at power forward and Paul George at small forward.
Team Shaq might have the most exciting players, but Team Chuck might be the better-composed team.
Whatever happens, there are a lot of young, exciting players in the league in this game, including other less celebrated players like Greg Monroe and Gordon Hayward as well.
It will be a great chance to see the future of the NBA and an enjoyable game to watch.
