NFL Trade Rumors: Why Jets and Redskins Are Terrible Options for Peyton Manning
If Peyton Manning still wants to play football, he'd do well to stop and think before rushing in to sign with the two teams probably most interested in him.
It's my sincere hope that for Manning's sake, there is a team out there aside from the Jets and Redskins who can work out a contract and get him on the field next season.
It's not just about the prospect of Peyton not being able to win with these two teams. Most (including myself) would say—and truly believe—that he could win with them. After all, it seems that for all intents and purposes he was the only thing standing between the Indianapolis Colts' playoff berth and a 2-14 season.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It stands to reason that if he did it with the Colts, he could probably do it with another team if given enough time to blend with that team's system and for that team to become familiar with "The Peyton System."
No, the most difficult thing to stomach about a guy like Manning playing for these teams is not that he couldn't win there. It's not even that the Jets and Redskins have facilitated the end and demise of quarterbacks year after year, with Donovan McNabb and Brett Favre as prime examples.
What makes these cities bad options for Manning is that they're plagued by an atmosphere of impulsive inconsistency, in-fighting and chaotic year to year personnel changes.
Whether it be the hectic tenures of Albert Haynesworth, Santonio Holmes and McNabb, the harshness and impatience by which both cities judge their quarterbacks or the media heavy personalities of their coaches and players, neither place would provide a respectable backdrop for Manning to end his career.
Manning would mean a quick fix for either of these teams, and a shot at a championship. Of course, I could be wrong, but even as good as Manning was and still is, the odds of him being able to come in and win a championship with either of these teams isn't that high.
Peyton would be set up for failure in either scenario, and would end his career in the shadow of an impatient media and an ungrateful fan base simply because of the ridiculous expectations and carelessness shown by these organizations year after year.
I want to see Peyton finish his career with class. I want to see him go down swinging, but with the full support and admiration of the entire NFL community cheering him on for what he has accomplished for the game of football.
Being beaten to death by a poorly run franchise, then having the blame laid at his feet for yet another championship-less season, would be a terrible way for Manning to finish his career.
Do yourself a favor Peyton, and don't join the craziness that is the Washington Redskins and the New York Jets. We want to see you finish well.
