WWE Elimination Chamber 2010: Ranking the 6 Raw Participants
This match was for the WWE Championship. A number of men had a realistic shot at leaving the night with gold around their waist. It was certainly an unpredictable match.
The best part about this match was that every man from Raw delivered. Each wrestler performed top notch and put on an excellent show. The ironic part about this match was that none of the six left the arena as WWE Champion.
6. Randy Orton
1 of 6I am sorry, but he was the first man eliminated.
His (former) partner in crime turned on him and pinned him in a well-done moment. The Legacy faction as we knew it was ending, and Ted DiBiase was the first man to grab the brass ring.
Ted picked up a huge pin fall over the Viper, and many thought he was on the verge of becoming the next big star in this company.
Not me! Just like fans repeatedly said how great John Morrison was over The Miz? Yeah. Rhodes always had more talent. I still laugh about people actually believing DiBiase would defeat Undertaker's streak.
Either way, Randy Orton was quickly sent to the back on this evening. I had no choice but to rank him last.
5. Ted DiBiase
2 of 6Yeah, Ted did not last too much longer.
He was quickly sent to the back as well. I liked his performance in this match, but it was never more than that. Just a nice showing...
This man still has a ton of potential, but two years ago was not his time.
4. Sheamus
3 of 6Sheamus was the current WWE Champion.
He defeated John Cena for the gold two months earlier, and the WWE Universe was in shock. I don't think many fans realized just how important the "youth movement" was to the company.
WWE needed a new champion, and Sheamus was the perfect choice.
Remember all the backlash over this first title reign? How Triple H doesn't know talent? Just more favoritism in the company being shown? The usual negative reaction...
Two years later, Triple H and WWE were right (as usual).
On this night, Sheamus was eliminated early, but it was done for a purpose. His WrestleMania path was chosen, and it did not hurt him one bit to lose here.
3. Triple H
4 of 6Triple H played his role perfectly at Elimination Chamber 2010.
He got involved with Sheamus right before Mania. He added some huge star power to the match. He even made it to the final two.
In the end, Triple H tapped out to John Cena. Yes, he tapped out in submission. Well done!
2. Kofi Kingston
5 of 6Kofi Kingston started this match with Sheamus. That alone makes my respect for Kofi increase big time. He knew he was in for the long haul and gave an amazing performance.
Trust me, I am the last guy to care about the "spots" Kofi can do. It really does not interest me. However, Kofi made it work on this night.
He was a great addition to the Chamber and stood out. He was more than just "big moves," and I appreciate that.
Of course, there was no way he was going to win the WWE title here, so his exit was a foregone conclusion. Win or lose, he more than held his own.
1. John Cena
6 of 6John Cena won the WWE Championship by making Triple H tap out. It was a great moment, and the Road to WrestleMania was beginning to take shape.
The only negative in this entire clip is Matt Striker announcing. He does know he is being heard by millions of fans, right? On worldwide television? Matt shouldn't be some kid on the couch "marking out."
Either way, Cena celebrated his victory...for about 10 seconds.
Vince McMahon came out and announced a WWE Championship match to take place immediately. Cena would defend his belt against Batista! Minutes later, there was yet another new champion...
