John Cena: How He Has Done at Each WWE Elimination Chamber Event

Chris HumphreyJun 4, 2018

Before John Cena meets Kane in an Ambulance Match at this year’s Elimination Chamber, it's worth noting that the former 12-time WWE Champion hasn’t always had the best of luck at the final Pay-Per-View event on the Road to WrestleMania.

In the following slide show, we will take a look at Cena’s career at No Way Out/Elimination Chamber through the years from, from his first match in 2004, up until his most recent win in the Raw Elimination Chamber in 2011.

WWE No Way Out 2004

1 of 8

In his first appearance at a No Way Out or Elimination Chamber event, John Cena was pitted in a triple threat match with the Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle and the Big Show, with the winner getting a shot at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 20.

With the Big Show knocked outside of the ring, Angle got the win after he was able to lock in his patented ankle lock, forcing Cena to submit and earning himself the right to go to WrestleMania.

Record: 0-1

WWE No Way Out 2005

In a scene similar to No Way Out from one year prior, Kurt Angle and John Cena met again at the 2005 event with a shot at the WWE Championship later that spring at WrestleMania 21.

Before Angle could hit Cena with his trademark chain from his early days in the WWE, the Cenation leader was able to quickly catch Angle in an FU and get the win to move on to WrestleMania, where he would win his first WWE Championship.

Record: 1-1

WWE No Way Out 2007

Before John Cena and Shawn Michaels met for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 23, the unlikely WWE Tag Team Champions faced off against the team of Batista and the Undertaker, who would face each other for the World Heavyweight Championship as well at WrestleMania.

After the World Heavyweight Champion left his partner alone in the match, Cena and Michaels easily hit both of their signature moves and got the pin on the Phenom, as the future opponents worked well on this night.

Record: 2-1

WWE No Way Out 2008

4 of 8

Unlike his matches at No Way Out in previous years, Cena got a shot at then-WWE Champion Randy Orton at this year’s event, instead of trying to earn a shot at the title at the upcoming WrestleMania.

With Cena pulling himself back in the ring after an RKO on the floor, Orton intentionally slapped the referee to get himself disqualified from the match resulting in Cena winning the match, but not the title.

After winning on his second chance the next night on Raw, Cena made the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania a triple threat match between himself, Orton and Triple H, a match at which Orton retained his title.

Record: 3-1

WWE No Way Out 2009

5 of 8

During the Raw Elimination Chamber match at the final No Way Out event in WWE history, Cena was eliminated by eventual winner of the match, Edge, who attacked Kofi Kingston to insert himself before the match after he lost his WWE Championship earlier in the night.

Record: 3-2

WWE Elimination Chamber 2010

6 of 8

At the first edition of the Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View for the WWE, John Cena came out on top as he survived the Raw Chamber Match by finally eliminating Triple H with an STF to become the new WWE Champion.

Record: 4-2

But, his night was not over after winning the WWE title in the grueling first contest of the night.

Vince McMahon announced that Cena would have to defend his newly won title against Batista, where the Animal won in a scant 31 seconds to set up their feud leading up to their title match at WrestleMania 26.

Record 4-3

WWE Elimination Chamber 2011

7 of 8

With a shot at the Miz and his WWE Championship at WrestleMania 27, the Raw Elimination Chamber consisted of Randy Orton, John Morrison, Sheamus, R-Truth, C.M. Punk and Cena all attempting to punch their ticket to the main event in Atlanta.

Following an Attitude Adjustment from inside the ring to the steel grate on the outside of the ring, John Cena pinned Punk for the win to set up the lackluster main event at WrestleMania that The Rock made watchable toward the end.

Record: 5-3
