WrestleMania 28: A Phenom & Assassin Have One Last Mission Before Conquering All
Professional wrestling is a simple concept.
You have two mere mortals stepping foot on a canvas to do battle. You have two forces combining as one to paint a picture; to tell a story.
The story maybe one of bitter hatred, where the opponents want nothing more than to maim or seriously injure one another.
It might be of two friends just trying to tear the house down for the entertainment of the fans. Where no matter the outcome, they will embrace afterwards and accept who the better man was on that given night.
Then, there is a story of respect. The two forces are fading off into the sunlight, yet feel they have one more feat to accomplish. They are but one step away from looking over the land they conquered, and realizing they have nothing more to do.
On April 1, live from Miami, Fla., that's precisely what will take place.
Triple H vs. The Undertaker; The Finale
So Similar, Yet so Different
1 of 4Triple H is a 13-time world champion. The Undertaker is a seven-time world champion.
Triple H has stepped on many toes on his way to immortality. He simply does not care what it took to get there as long as he meets his ultimate goal. The Undertaker slowly worked his way up the card, using pure talent to get recognized.
Triple H joined such factions as the Kliq to get ahead of the backstage politics. The Undertaker, from all we have ever heard, is simply above it.
Triple H is a vocal leader. He will embarrass you in front of all your peers if he feels it's deserved. The Undertaker is a leader by example. Not one harsh word has ever been spoken of the man.
Triple H is a brutal brawler who is known for beating his opponents to a lifeless state. The Undertaker has evolved over the years, utilizing the style that contrasts the best with his opponent.
Triple H's delivery on the microphone is unmatched. He can talk for 20 minutes and have the WWE Universe on the edge of their seat the whole time. The Undertaker is a man of few words. When he speaks though, all listen to his wisdom.
Both men are blocks of granite upon which the foundation of the WWE has been built.
Both men have an undying will to succeed. This will has driven them through all hardships, accolades, and driven them even further in their legendary careers.
Both men have a passion for the sport, dedicating their entire lives for one love. For one dream they had as a child, that has surpassed any reasonable expectations. They have showed that the dream that lives in the heart of children can be accomplished if you work hard enough for it.
Both men have accomplished nearly every feat you can possibly accomplish in one career. Just one remains...
Triple H's Motives
2 of 4Triple H believes The Undertaker has nothing left after leaving on a stretcher one year ago at the event his streak lives at.
He claims that he has far too much respect for The Last Outlaw, but that will no longer be the case soon enough.
Pride
For any successful human being, they have pride.
They want to accomplish absolutely everything there is to accomplish in their chosen endeavor, whether admitted or not.
Triple H is no different. He is simply lying to himself, attempting to contradict his heart because he knows The Undertaker is truly unbeatable at WrestleMania.
Yet, his legacy will have one blemish if he cannot end the streak, and this is likely his final chance to do so.
Retribution
Triple H has been defeated twice at WrestleMania by The Undertaker, at the 17th and 27th installments of the event.
His close friend, Shawn Michaels, also lost twice to The Phenom, at consecutive WrestleMania pay-per-views.
He wants to seek the ultimate revenge for him and his friend. He wants to take away the one thing that has The Undertaker clinging onto a career that should have ended years ago.
Showmanship
As a competitor, Triple H no doubt want to upstage everyone, from The Rock and John Cena, to Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker.
More than anything else, he wants to be considered the greatest ever to step foot in a squared circle.
The Undertaker's Motives
3 of 4It was said last year that The Undertaker had nothing to prove.
The Undertaker believed so, too, as he turned down challenge after challenge from Triple H before finally giving in.
Now, Triple H has planted a seed of doubt in the mind of The Undertaker.
For the first time in his career, The Undertaker feels as if he was not the real winner at WrestleMania 27.
He now needs to prove to himself that he can defeat Triple H with no questions asked.
He must prove his streak rightfully ends with a zero, or one black mark could be put on his stainless legacy.
20-0
The number 20 is always a milestone in judging things involving numbers.
The Undertaker is well aware that 20 wins at WrestleMania means that he has faced two decades of worthy opponents, and all have rested in peace in the very end.
It's All He Has Left
The Undertaker has seen everything change around him, as he's the one man defying laws of physics and dear old time.
Now, with time finally catching up to him, The Undertaker realizes that all he at one time cherished now is nothing but an ancient empire full of rubble.
The only thing he has left is the streak, as the WWE enters the reality era. He knows that win or lose, he may never get the bolt of excitement that goes through him in either the thrill of victory, or the agony of defeat.
WrestleMania
4 of 4WrestleMania surpasses everything.
WrestleMania is the one night a year the WWE captivates the most people around the world.
So many iconic moments have taken place at this stage, too.
Hulk Hogan slammed Andre The Giant at WrestleMania 3.
Steve Austin and The Rock wrapped up the ultra-popular Attitude Era at WrestleMania 17.
Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit hoisted both world championships as fellow underdogs and best friends at WrestleMania 20.
At WrestleMania 21, John Cena and Batista became the new faces of the company,
WrestleMania 24 was where Ric Flair's career was finally put to an end. Two years later, Shawn Michaels career also came to an end.
At WrestleMania 28, Triple H and The Undertaker will have one final battle. Not only that, but Chris Jericho and CM Punk are sure to put on a historic match and John Cena and The Rock will perform in possibly the most anticipated match ever.
The Undertaker's streak is perhaps the only thing superseding the event itself. Annually, a big portion of the hype for the show is based around if The Undertaker's streak will be broken alas. And if so, who should end it?
It is very difficult to imagine WrestleMania without The Undertaker. One can only hope the luster does not wear off without the biggest star shining bright when late March or early April rolls around.
