NFL Rumors: Latest News Surrounding Vincent Jackson and Other Potential Changes
With the anticipation of the 2012 NFL Draft, the scouting combine and free agency, there's still a lot to happen before we really get into the thick of things this offseason.
That being said, here is some of the latest news in pro football.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
According to Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News, the Bills are expected to meet former Oakland Raiders defensive back Stanford Routt:
"Buffalo is one of two teams who have reportedly already scheduled a meeting with ex-Raiders cornerback Stanford Routt, who was released by Oakland in the first surprise move of the NFL offseason Thursday. That report comes from ESPN's Josina Anderson, who quotes Routt's agent, William Vann McElroy, as saying "as of right now Buffalo has him flying in on Sunday for a Monday visit, but I will keep you posted."
"
Though Routt was vastly overpaid by the Raiders, it's not the worst of decisions for Buffalo, considering how terrible the defense was in 2011. The Bills offense has the capability to be explosive, the defense allowed an average of 371 total yards per game.
As for Routt, he's not a No. 1 cornerback as we saw this past season in Oakland. However, he can be a solid No. 2 corner. He was just that when the Raiders had Nnamdi Asomugha, so if the Bills can draft or sign a potential upper-echelon type corner, Routt will produce.
Vincent Jackson
It would be a big hit to quarterback Philip Rivers' receiving corps and the San Diego Chargers all together, but at the same time, comes as no surprise.
What's being mentioned is the possible split between the Bolts and receiver Vincent Jackson who would improve any offense immediately. In an article by Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, it seems inevitable:
"While the official word from both sides will be that they are open to reuniting—and the Chargers could become players once they see where the market has been set—it is unlikely Jackson will be a Charger once other teams get in the bidding. And that bidding is expected to go quickly.
"
A true No. 1 receiver on the market and in his prime potentially coming available, only makes those needing a stud target more willing to cough up the dough. Also, if Jackson gets an opportunity to test the waters, he's arguably considered the best receiver on the market.
With excellent size and strength to go with speed and reliability, no other receiver can match that combo right now, not to mention he's just 29 years old.
Santonio Holmes/Plaxico Burress
An interesting situation is unfolding with the New York Jets and it involves both of their two best receivers. The first revolves around Santonio Holmes who is expected to return.
According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, Holmes appears to remain at a hefty price:
"It looks like Santonio Holmes will indeed be with the Jets in 2012.
Holmes, whose season ended with a benching in Miami, is guaranteed $7.5 million of his $11 million 2013 salary because he was still on the Jets’ roster this [Wednesday] morning.
That means the Jets owe the wide receiver $15.25 million of guaranteed money, an amount that means he won’t be going anywhere.
"
On the contrary to that, though, fellow receiver Plaxico Burress told Howard Eskin of WIP-94/NBC-10 in Philadelphia that he wants to be an Eagle.
Well, what are the Jets to do now? There's been drama in the locker room surrounding Mark Sanchez, they owe an underachieving former Super Bowl MVP a lot and their best red-zone target wants out. For Philly it's not a bad idea because the Eagles do need a red zone/fade target.
Holmes however, hasn't seen nearly the success in New York as he did in Pittsburgh, so 2012 at the moment looks bleak. And if Burress bolts for Philly, Gang Green is headed in the exact opposite direction of their NYC counterpart/rival Giants.
