WWE No Way Out 2008: Ranking the 6 SmackDown Elimination Chamber Participants

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

The Elimination Chamber eventually found its home in February!

It took them a few years to find a stable timeframe for the match, but WWE made the right choice.

Make this a "once a year" spectacle!

Just like Heck on a Deck, Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank, the match happens at one event every 12 months.

On this night, there was a SmackDown and Raw Chamber match. Today, I will focus on the Blue Brand's top participants...

6. Big Daddy V

1 of 6

Yes, Big Daddy V!

I am sure some will remember him from the Attitude Era. Others will remember him from his (on screen) relationship with Lilian Garcia. Not me.

I will remember him for his dominant run on ECW and SmackDown a few years ago. It all brought him to the Elimination Chamber on this night. He was never going to get the win, but I expected him to have a nice showing.

Well, that didn't happen. He came in, hit a few big moves and was gone.

5. The Great Khali

2 of 6

I am a fan of The Great Khali.

He isn't very agile. He can't do many moves. He certainly doesn't move around very well.

However, the man gets it.

Khali knows his limitations and uses them to the fullest. Forget his face run! Him as a monster heel was exceptional work. That included an appearance in the SmackDown Elimination Chamber match in 2008.

Did he win? No. Did he have a good night? It was OK.

Will his career be remember for years to come? Absolutely! He will be in the WWE Hall of Fame one day. No doubt in my mind!

4. MVP

MVP was a great talent. If he ever made a return to WWE, I would certainly welcome him back.

That being said, I'm just not sure he would have made it as a main event performer in WWE. Just like many other wrestlers, they were great in the middle of the card. I know some don't understand that, but it needs to be said.

Not every great wrestler needs to main event!

Far too many people focus on if they ever become World Champion or WWE Champion. Honestly, I could list many wonderful performers who never were main event wrestlers full-time. It really doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things.

MVP was great as United States Champion. He was great in many different feuds. His appearance in the Chamber match here was the exact same. Great showing, but eliminated in the middle of the pack.

3. Finlay

4 of 6

Finlay was just like MVP. A great talent, but I never saw him as a main-event performer. There is no shame in saying that whatsoever!

Again, not every single wrestler in this business needs to main event!

His showing here was great. He even got some help from Hornswoggle during the match! What could be better than that?

Not much.

Finlay took it right to his bigger and better opponents while showing no fear. That was what Finlay so fun to watch.

Sadly, he would not receive a WrestleMania main event match, as a choke slam on the steel eliminated him from contention.

2. Batista

5 of 6

Batista started the match.

He was against a familiar opponent, but he didn't seem to mind. His goal was to main event WrestleMania, and nobody would stop him.

It's just too bad the cards were not aligned for Batista during this time.

He really drew the short end of the stick in the beginning of 2008.

He began the Chamber match, but he also made the final two...with the same man!

1. Undertaker

6 of 6

Undertaker was going to get his World Title back. One way or another, he was going to leave the Elimination Chamber as the No. 1 contender.

It didn't matter that he started the match against Batista. It didn't matter he bled throughout the match. It didn't matter. Taker was on a collision course with Edge, and the setting was WrestleMania 24.

After an amazing reversal, Undertaker hit Batista with a Tombstone, and victory was his!

This was a great Elimination Chamber match that followed a different path. Two men began the match and ended the match as well. It made sense, and everybody contributed in their own way!
