Peyton Manning Rumors: Superstar QB Would Be a Disaster with Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are desperate to find a starting quarterback—either a rookie or veteran—that can help them compete for a playoff spot in 2012. Peyton Manning could be looking for a new team soon, so this would appear to be a match made in sports heaven.
ESPN's Adam Schefter answered questions about the Indianapolis Colts quarterback in his weekly mailbag and said that he believes the Dolphins are the favorites to land the soon-to-be 36-year old quarterback.
"The team that is the favorite in my mind to land Manning is Miami. The Dolphins can offer warm weather and a favorable contract, and the team has been screaming for a franchise quarterback since Dan Marino left. Make Miami the favorite for now. But we've already seen what being a favorite meant to New England in this Super Bowl.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
While that news is likely to send Dolphins fans into a frenzy, that partnership would not end well for either side.
For the Dolphins, they can't keep trying to patch in makeshift quarterbacks for cheap wins now. They need to find a young player that can lead this team for the next 10-15 years. It is not an easy process, and that player might not be available in this year's draft, but patience is a virtue.
They have more holes than just the quarterback, so who is to say that if they were to acquire Manning they would be postseason locks?
As for Manning, at this point, no one knows what he is going to do if he is able to play again. By the time the season starts, it will have been 20 months since he took a snap. It doesn't matter how good you were before, it takes a lot of time to get your rhythm and timing back.
Add to the fact that Manning is, as mentioned earlier, going to be 36 years old, and you have a player waiting to fail.
The Dolphins already have problems on the offensive line. What are they going to do when they have to block for the immobile Manning?
The idea of Manning to the Dolphins sounds a lot better than the reality. He is not going to be the same player he used to be. The team is not in position to contend for a Super Bowl, so he does not bring anything to the table besides intrigue at the start of the year.
Intrigue does not result in success, nor would Manning leading the Dolphins offense.
