Super Bowl Advertisements: Charm of Big Game Commercials Has Been Ruined
One of the best things about Super Bowl commercials is that they were new and exciting. Companies made new advertisements for the big game knowing the massive audience that it brings.
They still do that now, but the value and charm of those commercials is completely lost when the advertisements are released early online.
If someone has watched all of the commercials before the big game, they're not going to have any problem using commercial breaks to go to the bathroom, or refill their food or drinks.

When that happens, Super Bowl commercials become no different than the ads that you see every day of the year on all television shows. That is the last thing that any company who spends the money for a Super Bowl commercial should ever want.
Another thing that has ruined the Super Bowl commercials are ads that say something like "watch the end online."
Believe it or not, some people are watching the Super Bowl for the game. They aren't going to be in a huge hurry to go jump on a computer to watch the end of a commercial. That is just lazy.
If you're going to give us a Super Bowl commercial, make sure that it is a full one. You irritate your audience by making them do extra work for your ad.
Something else that does is diminish the product.
Because people aren't rushing to the computer (or even their smart phones) to finish watching the commercial online, they forget. The Super Bowl lasts the better part of four hours. People aren't sitting around noting which commercials they need to go online to finish watching.
Companies need to find a way to keep their biggest commercials secret until it's time to air them, and then also give us the full ad. Until that happens, the value of the Super Bowl commercial will head downward while the cost of having one will go up.
That is not a good formula for success. You want to get the most bang for as few bucks as possible. Getting the opposite is nothing but a recipe for disaster.
