Ohio State Football Recruiting: 3 Recruits Most Likely to Become Busts

Randy ChambersJun 7, 2018

National signing day is over and done with, so we have a pretty good idea of what the future of these teams look like. Sure, there are still a few valuable prospects out there that are still uncommitted, but for the most part, teams' overall recruiting classes aren't going to change that much.

It's now time to break these classes down and see who will produce and who won't. We see it every season: the players who are highly recruited, but fail to live up to expectations. After all, these are just high school kids who haven't really done much against top competition.

Nobody really knows who will be good and who won't.

Here are a few Buckeyes who we don't think will live up to expectations.

CB Najee Murray

1 of 3

Najee Murray is considered one of the better cornerback prospects in the country. The problem is that he played safety for majority of his high school career. He's a physical player and has great instincts on the football field, but cover skills are not his strong suit. He's also only 5'9" and 169 pounds.

It's going to take Murray awhile to learn a new position. With so many talented players on this roster, Meyer may very well lose his patience and put somebody else in that will get the job done.

DE Noah Spence

Did this get your attention?

Listen, I think Noah Spence is going to be a fantastic player on the defensive line. I believe he'll pick up a ton of sacks and make several big plays like he did in high school.

But the expectations are so high for him that it may be impossible for him to accomplish everything people believe he can do. Kind of how things were for Jadeveon Clowney when he went to South Carolina.

Spence will be a great player, but he may have to put up off-the-chart numbers for people to realize it.

RB Warren Ball

3 of 3

Warren Ball doesn't lack talent. He's a big back at 6'2", 215 pounds and has a great combination of speed and power. He can accelerate with the best of them and breaks arm tackles with ease.

The problem is that he has a problem with staying healthy. He missed games in 2009 with a groin injury and in 2010 he sprained his ankle.

Kind of hard to produce when you're always on the sideline. Not to mention the Buckeyes also picked up a solid running back in Brionte Dunn as well, who should get a ton of carries the next few years.
