WWE Elimination Chamber: Ranking the 6 Participants from Survivor Series 2002
In just over two weeks, WWE will present the Elimination Chamber PPV event. Coming to you live from Milwaukee, it is sure to be an exciting show for everybody watching!
However, it is time to start taking a look back at past Elimination Chamber matches. There have been plenty of great wrestlers inside the structure, and it all began at Madison Square Garden in 2002.
6. Booker T
1 of 6I am a fan of Booker T. He has entertained me on television for well over a decade and always brings "it." Sadly, I just never had a reason to watch him here.
He did a fine job, but he was all but forgotten about in the grand scheme of things.
Booker should have been kept away from the main-event scene until WrestleMania XIX. That way, it would have meant so much more.
Either way, Triple H should have won at Mania against Booker, and he did. In the end, it did not matter because Booker stood out the least in this match.
5. Kane
2 of 6Kane was ending his feud with Triple H over the World title, so it made sense for him to be in this match. He had no chance of winning, but he did a nice job.
I agreed with the decision to keep the belt on Triple H during their series in 2002, so it was no surprise to see Kane look dominant here, yet still end up on the losing end. That is just how it works.
The only reason Kane did not rank last is because of Jim Ross calling the action when he threw Chris Jericho through the glass pod. It may be bullet-proof, but it isn't Kane-proof...
4. Chris Jericho
3 of 6Chris Jericho has always done an excellent job inside the Chamber. This performance was no different. Again, he had zero chance at winning, but that did not matter.
He was in New York City to put on a show, and he did just that. Being a current tag team champion was strange enough. Think of how Shawn Michaels and John Cena was tag champs at Wrestle Mania XXIII. Just very odd.
However, Jericho not only made it to the final three, he also got an extended entrance. Thanks to Saliva he made his mark on the evening before the match even began!
3. Triple H
4 of 6He started the match with Rob Van Dam. He was the current World Champion. He was also injured during the main event.
Through it all, Triple H made it to the final two and showed everybody once again why he is "The Game." The fact this guy's abilities are still being questioned ten years later is just laughable. The man is one of the greatest of all-time, and he proved why on this night!
2. Rob Van Dam
5 of 6I am not a big fan of RVD. He has his usual "spots" and hasn't changed his character one bit in nearly 15 years. That being said, I have to give him credit on this night.
No way I can deny that he was a huge part of the Elimination Chamber's debut. From being one of the first two entrants to hitting spectacular moves to having the crowd right there with him, he was one of the shining acts at Survivor Series 2002.
Too bad for Rob none of that means you will win. Just like at Unforgiven a few months earlier, he (rightfully) stood no chance at winning the gold. He was eliminated early and sent to the back.
1. Shawn Michaels
6 of 6I am going to ignore his ring attire. That was so ridiculous.
His look may not have been top-notch, but his skills certainly were inside the ring. There is a reason why he is considered by many to be the best ever. There is a reason why he was picked to compete in so many "first time ever" matches.
There is a reason why he retired at the top of his game. There is a reason why he is respected by so many in the business—nights like this!
Shawn Michaels did not do too many "flashy" moves, but he did exactly what was needed. His feud with Triple H needed a big moment here. The heel had to finally get "his" at a major PPV event.
HBK defeated Triple H for the World title, and it was an outstanding moment in WWE history. The Heartbreak Kid was now the Comeback Kid, as he stood triumphantly. Easily the star of the match.
