WWE: 5 Reasons Undertaker Should Face Kane at WrestleMania 28
As we all know, the Undertaker returned to WWE on Raw this past Monday night, and he made his intentions clear when it comes to wanting a rematch against Triple H.
While fans continue to debate whether or not this is the WrestleMania match they truly want to see, there is another name that is considered the better choice to face the Deadman.
That's right, Kane is the Superstar that a good number of fans want to see standing across the ring from Undertaker on April 1st in Miami.
The problem with this scenario is, obviously, that Kane currently has heat with John Cena, and that will likely lead to these two having their own WrestleMania showdown.
But that does not stop fans from talking about Kane versus Undertaker, and there are many reasons why these two Superstars are the perfect opponents.
And here are five of those reasons.
5. They Are Evenly Matched
1 of 5When you look at Kane, you can't help but think of Undertaker. It's just that simple.
A lot has been done to differentiate Kane from his brother, and the Big Red Machine has done a lot to carve his own place in the company. There's no denying any of that.
But Kane and Taker have a common link that also cannot be denied, and much of it has to do with their in-ring repertoire.
There has arguably never been two men more evenly matched in WWE history than Kane and Undertaker. Watching them go move for move, attempting the same maneuvers, even sitting up at the same time when you think they're both down for the count. It's real drama every time these two are in the ring.
For the past few years, Taker's WrestleMania opponents have been great workers, but each one has brought their own individual styles to the match. Kane basically brings everything Taker has, and then some.
It's not Freddy versus Jason as much as it is Jason versus Jason.
Kane is perhaps the most serious threat to Undertaker's streak, mostly because he instinctively knows what his brother's next move will be.
He has not been successful thus far, but is his time coming?
4. Kane Has Nothing to Prove
2 of 5Edge had to prove he was not afraid, that he had the ability to beat Undertaker.
Shawn Michaels had to prove to himself that he was the better wrestler, that he could still rise to the occasion by defeating the Deadman.
Triple H had to prove that Taker was at the end, that he had nothing left and that the Game was indeed the last true outlaw.
Kane has nothing to prove. Period.
The Big Red Machine is all about destruction. He would likely not be concerned with proving he was better in the ring, or that he would have bragging rights by being the man to end Taker's streak.
The only item on Kane's agenda would be destroying his brother, not for any other reason than because he can. The days of being jealous over his brother, or the desire to reign as champion, are all behind Kane.
At this point, the name of the game is either kill or be killed. With his lack of ego, and the fact that he has nothing left to prove, Kane is by far the most dangerous threat to Taker's undefeated WrestleMania streak.
3. There's a Lot of History to Draw on
3 of 5A great selling point for this match is the fact that Kane and Undertaker have countless matches and heat behind them. They have so much history behind them that this feud can be renewed at a moment's notice.
No setup is needed, no reason for WWE to orchestrate a complicated storyline for both men to cross paths once again. The typical work to create a rivalry is not required for Kane and Undertaker; the fact is that fans can jump right back into the automatic heat that both men naturally have and enjoy the rivalry that is born again in front of them.
A lot has been said about the fact that Taker perhaps should be working with an up-and-coming WWE Superstar, one that would benefit greatly from his experience, and because of the rub that only he can give.
But that sort of angle takes time to evolve, and at the end of the day, fans may or may not believe that the Deadman's streak is truly in jeopardy.
Kane is the one Superstar who is a legitimate threat to Undertaker's WrestleMania run, and fans have no problem believing he can end the streak. His vast history with Taker is a big reason for that, and it's practically a sure thing that fans would pay to see this do-or-die confrontation.
2. Let the Mind Games Begin
4 of 5As if facing a seven-foot, 323-pound masked monster is not enough, with Kane you have to worry about your brains getting scrambled as well.
Kane's initial attack begins mentally, as we have seen recently with John Cena, and as we have seen for years since his debut in WWE. He gets into his opponent's head, planting the seeds of self-doubt, of fear, and the doom of eventually standing across the ring from him in a match.
His ability to sell his character in this way is one of the most entertaining factors of Kane's overall work. Just sitting back and watching how he enjoys mentally dissecting his opponent is half the fun when it comes to Kane. The build up to a WrestleMania 28 showdown with Undertaker would be no different.
While he does not have anything left to prove, the truth is that he would say anything, make any claim, to work his way inside the mind of Undertaker. He is one of the best at playing mind games, and there is arguably no one better at playing them with the Deadman himself.
Kane is definitely on his game with Cena, just imagine him taking that psychological warfare to the front door of the man who he has beaten before, the same man he could very well beat again.
This time, it would mean more than any victory Kane has ever had over him.
1. It's a Fitting End for the Brothers of Destruction
5 of 5It has to end sooner or later.
Undertaker's epic run in WWE will one day come to a close, and like other legends before him, the end could very well come at the hands of another trusted go-to guy.
Shawn Michaels ended Ric Flair's WWE in-ring career, and Kane could possibly be the man to end Undertaker's WrestleMania streak, then eventually his career.
What better way for the Brothers of Destruction to come to a close than for each man to destroy the other in a WrestleMania showdown?
Much has been said about who should be trusted, and who deserves to face Undertaker with the streak on the line. Should it be a younger Superstar that Taker can give the rub to, or should it be someone like Triple H, a man who is Undertaker's peer and has had a career that rivals the Deadman?
For me, there is no better opponent, no better Superstar, to face Undertaker than the man who has the longest history with him—storyline wise. Taker and Kane are the same, yet they are completely different. They are flip sides of the same coin, and there is no bigger threat to the Deadman than his little brother.
So, cue the pyro, and the fog, and let's make this happen.
