Manchester City Transfer News: David Pizarro Joins the Citizens from Roma
With the transfer window coming close to an end, Manchester City revealed Tuesday that it had signed veteran midfield David Pizarro on a loan from Roma, according to the club's official website.
Manager Roberto Mancini was looking for another central midfielder to fortify his squad, and he was able to achieve that with an experienced veteran in Pizarro.
Mancini coached the Chilean international when he was with Inter Milan a few years ago, so the two understand each other fairly well, having won the 2006 Serie A league title when they were together at the San Siro.

It is uncertain for how long Pizarro will be wearing blue, as the newly signed loanee will only last until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old headed to the Serie A in 1999 to play for Udinese, where he stayed until 2006.
After a brief stint with Inter, Pizarro has been playing with Roma and has fared relatively well. He is not much of a goal scorer, but is a good defender who can hold down the midfield for City.
The move was a good one for Roma as well, who haven't been getting as much use out of Pizarro as they had in past years due to a string of injuries this season.
He has only appeared in seven games for Roma this season, including five starts.
City is currently trying to distance itself from Manchester United in the Premier League table, as the Reds are currently tied with City at 54 points apiece; however, City's impressive +41 goal differential keeps them atop the table.
Mancini should be able to incorporate Pizarro into the lineup (assuming he's fully healthy) as a substitute in the next few games, as City will play bottom table teams in its upcoming EPL matches.
The Citizens are hoping that the veteran Pizarro can keep them on track to win their first league title in 44 years.
