ESPNU 150 2012: Predicting Landing Spots for Top Undecided Players

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

Zero hour is approaching for those high school football players who have yet to decide where they want to attend college. National Signing Day is on February 1, and there are plenty of elite players leaving coaches and fans in limbo until the magical moment finally arrives.

In fact, according to the ESPNU 150 player rankings, there are four top-10 players whose future is still very much unclear right now. They will be getting peppered with questions and comments from the media over the next two days.

Until then, we wanted to put our best foot forward to predict where those players will be attending college next season.

No. 3 Dorial Green-Beckham, WR

There were reports on Monday that Green-Beckham was going to attend Missouri, but Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports was told that was not the case.

So what is the best wide receiver prospect in the country going to do?

All along, Arkansas has been considered the favorite for Green-Beckham's services. Even with the Missouri rumors, there is nothing that has happened recently that should change his mind.

It is a perfect fit for him and the school, especially considering the wide-open style of play head coach Bobby Petrino likes to run.

Prediction: Arkansas

No. 8 Davonte Neal, Athlete

Neal is the top athlete in this year's recruiting class, according to the ESPU 150 Rankings. He has been making the rounds on recruiting trips lately. Oklahoma appears to be making a late push for his services and Ohio State is in the mix, according to Richard Obert of the Arizona Republic

Other teams currently on his list include Notre Dame, Arkansas, Arizona and North Carolina. Neal has done a good job of hiding his intentions up to this point, but the picture appears to be coming into focus.

Bob Stoops and Urban Meyer have a way of wooing these raw athletes like few coaches in the country can today. It is just a question of which coach loves his skills the most.

Prediction: Ohio State

No. 9 Andrus Peat, OT

At 6'7" and 300 pounds, Peat is probably the most intimidating offensive lineman in this year's recruiting class.

He has four teams in the mix for his services—Nebraska, Florida State, Stanford and USC. The Cornhuskers could have a special advantage because his brother Avery Moss plays on the team.

Jason Skoda of MaxPreps.com predicts that Peat will end up going to Stanford, citing the fact that the school has produced two offensive linemen—Jonathan Martin and David DeCastro—who will be taken in the Round 1 of this year's NFL Draft.

Prediction: Nebraska

No. 10 Eddie Goldman, DT

This year's defensive line class has a lot of high end talent, with Mario Edwards being the No. 1 player on the ESPNU 150. Goldman is the No. 3 defensive lineman and top defensive tackle in this year's class.

The finalists for Goldman's services are Alabama, Auburn and Florida State. He could be the next great Nick Saban defensive-line prospect if he chooses to go to Tuscaloosa, but he might have to wait in line before getting a chance to play.

Auburn is an intriguing spot for him, because the Tigers have a good, young nucleus. He could go into town and be a starter right away. It could be at least a year before the team gets into BCS contention, but he would be on the field.

Prediction: Auburn
