National Signing Day 2012: Ohio State and Biggest Wild Cards
National signing day is on Wednesday, and campuses around the country will be buzzing until then with rumors of incoming recruits and de-committed athletes.
But what campuses are still waiting to see where the dust settles, unsure whether their teams will land a huge recruiting class or could totally flop? What schools are the wild cards?
I've got three to keep an eye on before Wednesday
Oregon
The Ducks seriously upgraded their recruiting class by landing excellent 4-star defensive line prospect Arik Armstead on Sunday night.
But Oregon could take a good class and make it a great one if they are able to lure 5-star defensive back Shaq Thompson to Eugene. Thompson is said to have interest in California (where he verbally committed but has reconsidered), Washington and potentially even UCLA.
Thompson has become friends with Armstead during the recruiting process, and it's hard to imagine passing up the opportunity to play with a friend at one of the best programs in the nation and all those crazy uniforms.
Stay tuned.
Ohio State
Hey, when you have Urban Meyer, you always have the chance to land an epic recruiting class, right?
The program landed Massachusetts cornerback and 4-star recruit Armani Reeves on Sunday night, another solid addition to a strong recruiting class.
Five-star wide receiver Stefon Diggs visited over the weekend and obviously would be a huge get for Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes. As would wide receiver prospect Davonte Neal.
Keep an eye on Ohio State.
Missouri
This one is simple—the Tigers are rumored to be the destination for the nation's top prospect, wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham.
If Green-Beckham in fact ends up in Missouri, the Tigers will be headed to the SEC ready to make some noise next season. If not, well, things may be a bit trickier for Missouri in the country's best conference.
Hit me up on Twitter—my tweets are chicken soup for the Internet soul.
