National Signing Day Predictions: Dorial Green-Beckham and Stars' Best Bets
National Signing Day is just days away, and several elite athletes will make life chancing decisions, but if they're not careful, they could end up at a school where they won't find much success.
There are always recruits that after a few years in college wonder how things would have been different had they picked another school.
The majority of the time, it's easy to see where a recruit fits best at, as well as the place where he's most likely to win big.
Sometimes these recruits opt for a different school, and while they might have a solid career, there chances of dominating more or winning a title where likely greater at another school.
That being said, here is where some of the top recruits should go, as well as where I think they'll actually end up.
Dorial Green-Beckham, WR
The No. 1 recruit in the nation. Green-Beckham is headed for greatness wherever he ends up. His top five schools are Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
His best bet is to play for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. They may be over-signing, but they will definitely make room for this 6'6", 220-pound wide receiver.
All of his final five are in dire need of a big-time playmaker, but playing for Alabama gives him the best chance to become a national champion.
Green-Beckham is going to get a ton of targets wherever he ends up, and he might receiver more if he went to a school that runs a spread offense. However, the Crimson Tide will better prepare him for the pros because of their system, plus they will always have an elite defense to help keep them in the title hunt.
The pressure won't be all on him if he went to Alabama, but by choosing another school, that program will heavily rely on him.
However, I think he ends up at Arkansas. The Razorbacks appear to be the favorite, and they aren't too terribly far from his home in Missouri like Alabama is, which is another reason I think he ends up playing for Bobby Petrino.
Andrus Peat, OT
One of the top offensive lineman in the class of 2012, Peat has had offers pour in from all over the country.
Listed at 6'7", 305 pounds, Peat's final schools are down to Florida State, Nebraska, Stanford and USC.
His best is to join the USC Trojans, as he has a great chance to see early playing time and win big for years to come.
Peat's big frame and superb skills make him ready for the college level, and no other school on his list has as much hype for the 2012 season as the Trojans. With Matt Kalil leaving for the NFL, the Trojans need to stock up on offensive line talent, and Peat is one of the best.
That being said, I think he ends up choosing Nebraska because his brother is currently a defensive lineman there. He'd have more success at USC, but family bonds are strong, which is why I believe he'll decide to play for Bo Pelini.
Eddie Goldman, DT
The No. 1 defensive tackle in the class of 2012, Goldman is headed for big things in his college career. Depending on which school he joins, he could see a significant amount of playing time has a freshman, or wait a year or two before he gets a chance to shine.
His final schools are down to Alabama, Auburn and Florida State. Goldman's best bet would be to join the Crimson Tide to help them win more national titles.
Nick Saban is a stellar defensive coach, and in his system Goldman won't have any trouble standing out. Saban is the best coach Goldman could play for, which is why he should choose the Crimson Tide.
Listed at 6'4", 310 pounds, Goldman has the body as well as the strength and talent to be a dynamic force wherever he ends up. Alabama would certainly make room for him too, and there is no question he would be the anchor of that line for years to come, as well as a future first-round draft pick. Goldman definitely has the skills to quickly push his way to the top of the depth chart.
However, I think he ends up at Auburn. His father had nothing but excellent things to say about Auburn, including that being their felt like family. There's a better opportunity for playing time at Auburn, which is another reason I see him choosing to play for Gene Chizik.
