Auburn Recruiting 2012: Will Ricardo Louis Flip Back to the Tigers on NSD?

Danny FlynnJan 26, 2012

After watching star running back recruit T.J. Yeldon decommit from Auburn and instead pledge his services to archrival Alabama, Auburn fans certainly weren’t going to be happy if the Tigers lost another one of their top commitments from the 2012 class.

However, that’s just what happened when long-time Auburn commit WR Ricardo Louis, a four-star prospect out of Florida’s Miami Beach high school, decommitted from the Tigers on Jan. 20. The receiver changed his commitment to Florida State after visiting Tallahassee the previous weekend.

Louis, who was one of the top-rated commitments of Auburn's 2012 class, shocked everyone with the suddenness of his change of heart.

That being said, it seems that Louis can’t make up his mind. He’s now reportedly decommitted from Florida State, opened his recruitment back up and is now considering both Auburn and Florida State.

This certainly isn’t the first time we’ve seen a high-profile recruit who’s been indecisive about his college future. In fact, I seem to remember a highly touted quarterback prospect from this year’s class who committed and then decommitted on a few occasions.

With less than a week left to make up his mind, the question is, which school will Ricardo Louis end up signing with on National Signing Day?

Will it be the Tigers or the Seminoles?

Now that the luster of his Florida State visit has worn off, it seems that Louis has taken a look back and realized all of the reasons he originally committed to Auburn in the first place.

The loss of offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn may have triggered the change of heart, as I'm sure the Florida State coaching staff hammered that point home during Louis' official visit. However, now that the Tigers have a new offensive sheriff in place in Scott Loeffler, things have at least stabilized.

It remains to be seen if the addition of Loeffler will be enough to reel Louis back in, but it's at least a good start.

If the Tigers can find a way to get Louis back on board, it will certainly be a big boost to a 2012 class that isn't exactly as decorated and highly rated as the last two hauls that Auburn pulled in over the last two years.
