NFL Playoff Picks: Odds on 6 Possible Super Bowl MVPs
This year's Super Bowl features some of the most exciting players in the league who are capable of taking home the Super Bowl MVP award, cementing their name forever in Super Bowl history.
The favorites will be either Tom Brady or Eli Manning, but both teams have other players who could shine on Super Bowl Sunday.
Here are the odds on six possible Super Bowl MVPs.
Rob Gronkowski: 8%
1 of 6Rob Gronkowski is the most dangerous tight end in the NFL, so why isn't his percentage higher?
Well, it's the injury he suffered in the AFC Championship Game. He has to deal with an ankle sprain. While reports indicate he will still play in the Super Bowl, you have to imagine it'll be tough for Gronkowski to put up his usual production.
Still, I wouldn't count him out. With Tom Brady at quarterback, Gronkowski can still put up big numbers in any game.
Jason Pierre-Paul: 10%
2 of 6Jason Pierre-Paul exploded onto the scene with an impressive sophomore season.
He was a sack machine this season with 16.5 and has been making big plays for the Giants defense week in and week out.
I think he'll be a huge factor in the Super Bowl because four years ago the Giants sacked Brady five times in their first Super Bowl matchup. The Giants are an aggressive defense who will try and blitz Brady constantly.
If the Giants win, Pierre-Paul could have a lot to do with on defense. Perhaps he could rack up a couple of sacks or a forced fumble. Either way, he'll be a playmaker.
Vince Wilfork: 10%
3 of 6Vince Wilfork has been dominating offensive lines so far this postseason, giving both the Broncos and Ravens some serious issues up front.
He already has 2.5 sacks in just two games along with nine tackles. Teams have been double-teaming Wilfork, but he's still producing, despite the amount of attention he receives from opposing offensive lines.
Wilfork is a force off the line and his ability to force turnovers and get pressure on the quarterback could land him the Super Bowl MVP award if things fall into place for him.
Hakeem Nicks or Victor Cruz: 15%
4 of 6Eli Manning has been firing on all cylinders this postseason. However, it's his two wide receivers that have significantly contributed to his success: Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks.
Manning has done an excellent job of finding these two downfield and both have made a huge impact in the team's three postseason games so far.
The two have combined for more than 600 yards during the playoffs and Nicks has scored four touchdowns.
If Manning has a big game, most likely these two wide receivers will too. Keep an eye on them during Super Bowl Sunday.
Eli Manning: 25%
5 of 6Eli Manning's success this postseason has been well-documented. In three games, he has thrown for 923 yards, eight touchdowns and only one interception.
Perhaps what is more impressive is Manning's road postseason record. He has won his last five postseason road games and seems to not be rattled by the pressure of the big game.
Manning is rolling into the Super Bowl and with the Patriots struggling pass defense, Manning is in a great position to have a huge game.
Tom Brady: 32%
6 of 6Tom Brady is the best quarterback in the NFL. His playoff pedigree is unmatched by any other quarterback today and his confidence is unshakable.
Brady leads an explosive Patriots' offense into the Super Bowl with weapons like Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker that are peaking at the right time.
The Super Bowl is a place where Brady has gained a lot of experience by playing four Super Bowls already and winning three of those games. He has also already won two Super Bowl MVPs, too.
Brady has the best chance of any player this year to be Super Bowl MVP. He's proven that he's capable of performing in big games and with the weapons around him, he could easily throw for more than 300 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
It will be tough for Brady to be upstaged in this Super Bowl rematch. He's poised and prepared and my favorite to win the Super Bowl MVP.
