National Signing Day 2012: Dorial Green-Beckham and Recruits Ready for Primetime

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Over the past few years, incoming freshmen have been making a much bigger impact in college football, and the class of 2012 definitely has a few players worthy of contributing to this growing trend.

More often than not, these talented freshmen are skill position players, helping teams on offense and in the return. Occasionally there are defenders who step in right away to make a difference, which can be more beneficial to some teams.

Whether they've made up their mind or not about which school they're headed to, these three players are sure to shine bright next season.

Dorial Green-Beckham, WR

The nation's No. 1 overall player, Green-Beckham is bound to be a star immediately. The 6'6", 220-pound receiver has yet to make a decision, but when he does, some school will be extremely ecstatic.

His skills are top-notch, and his height gives him a great advantage. As he learns the system and how to defeat college football defensive schemes, Green-Beckham will first rely on his natural talent to help him succeed.

This exceptional recruit will use his big frame to make big plays for one of these five schools: Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas (according to Rivals).

Wherever he ends up, it's no secret he's going to see the field early and often, making a name for himself very quickly.

Stefon Diggs, ATH

Perhaps the most talented athlete in the class of 2012, Diggs is giving no hints as to where he plans to play college football.

Rivals states his top five include Auburn, California, Florida, Maryland and Ohio State, but he is definitely wide open.

Diggs told Derek Tyson of ESPN he enjoyed his recent visit with Florida and will likely take a trip to Ohio State next.

Listed at 6'0" and 185 pounds, Diggs has the skills to play wide receiver or running back and will definitely get a shot to make an impact in the return game.

With his great speed, Diggs is going to thrive at the college level. If the coach he plays for is smart, he'll find multiple ways to get the Diggs the ball because he's so dangerous with it.

Keith Marshall, RB

Already enrolled at Georgia, Marshall has a big edge over a majority of other incoming freshmen. Not only does he get an early look at the playbook, he gets extra time to work and bond with the team, as well as get a head start on classes.

As the No. 1 running back by Scout.com, Marshall is going to have a big influence in the Bulldogs backfield. It was an area Georgia struggled at last year, but with Marshall the Bulldogs have a stronger depth.

Marshall has tremendous speed, which was put on display in a recent race with Malcolm Mitchell, a rising sophomore receiver who was praised for his explosiveness.

Being able to put in work with the team for the entire spring and summer will help this skilled running back be even more ready for the spotlight.
