Royal Rumble 2012: Why WWE Needs The Rock To Fight At Pay-Per-View
The Royal Rumble is one of only two WWE Pay-Per-View events left that is strong enough to draw good buy rates on its own without much promotion or match buildup.
That's good news, because the build for this show is seriously lacking. But imagine how great things would be if The Rock appeared on the show to start his WrestleMania feud with John Cena.
The Rock doesn't have to wrestle a match, as it is far too late in the process to put him into one and hope for it to have any significant impact on business, but there is no reason that he can't show up, cost Cena his match with Kane, and walk away with a big smile on his face.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
This whole Kane-Cena feud has been a disaster from the beginning. It started with some promise, but then Kane had to speak, and say that the reason he came back is because fans were booing Cena. It has just been downhill from there.
Cena trying to "embrace the hate" is such an obvious ploy by WWE to try and get the male fans in attendance that have been booing him to cheer him when Rock comes back to split the audience at WrestleMania.
The whole thing is a pointless exercise, because WrestleMania is taking place in The Rock's backyard and it's his first singles match in eight years.
There has to be some grand way to kick off the feud, and we know that WWE is not going to have Cena throw the first punch, because he did it last year. By having him do it this year would make him a clear heel, which goes against everything WWE has built him up to be.
Instead, why not have The Rock strike the first big blow? If WWE is fearful that he will be cheered too much over Cena, then try to position him as the heel. It won't work, but it would be consistent with the booking that this company seems to follow, for reasons known only to Vince McMahon.
What better way to have Rock and Cena officially start their feud than by having the "Great One" attack him at the second-biggest show of the year, before Kane beats him in the middle of the ring.
It's not like Kane is going to magically be elevated to main-event status when this whole thing is over anyway, so give him a cheap victory to move him and Cena on to bigger and better things heading into Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania.
