WWE Opinion: The One Old School Tactic That Could Seriously Help the Company

Justin EldridgeJan 21, 2012

Hello Fellow Bleachers! Welcome to my latest article.

In my opinion, WWE programming has been making a shift for the better lately. They have focused more on producing quality matches for the most part. They have been making strides to get better, and it is showing.

Whether it is just for the Wrestlemania home stretch or it turns into a continuous trend isn't the point. The point is they have been trying, and I hope it is for good.

The reigning World Champions are guys that people have been clamoring for to hold the titles since they arrived in WWE.

Smackdown had a tag team match between The Uso's and the champs Epico & Primo that felt like an actual tag team match was taking place instead of a bunch of singles competitors teaming up for no reason.

The Divas have still been treated like crap, but one step at a time.

The old school tactic I mentioned in my title could be something that may allow the Divas the time they need to develop some quality story lines and have some more time in the ring to hone their skills.

And this is not just for the Divas either. Anybody that is currently working the undercard up to the midcard has been having the same issue with air time.

My solution for this is the old picture-in-picture interview box in the corner of the screen.

Wait, wait, wait! Hear me out.

It may seem a bit trivial, but, if you think about it, the pre-taped interview of old allowed a feud to be furthered while one of the combatants was in the ring.

There was no need for constant backstage segments and fifteen minute interview segments that took away from the action in the ring. One of the two people in the feud could be in the ring and have a pre-taped interview that spoke of how the other should watch and take note of what was going to happen to them once they got in the ring at the same time.

The Divas and undercard could benefit greatly from this. If even one or two backstage segments were eliminated per show, I bet that would add at least five minutes of in-ring action to the show.

The women could have matches that run much longer than a minute-and-a-half with the addition of even half of that five minutes. And undercard talent that normally don't get much time to get the crowd invested in them either could benefit greatly from an additional couple of minutes in the ring as well.

I have seen the use of this tactic sporadically over the last year, but I think that if it was bought back on a regular basis, it could greatly benefit the company as a whole.

What do you all think? Feel free to agree, disagree or add anything to this.
