2012 NFL Playoffs: Ranking the Top 4 Rookies After Divisional Weekend
With Von Miller eliminated from the postseason (along with the Denver Broncos), who are the best rookies left in the playoffs?
Most of the best NFL freshman from this season like Cam Newton and Andy Dalton are already out of contention. But there are still some guys alive (like Torrey Smith of the Baltimore Ravens) who are major contributors for their teams.
Here is a list of the best rookies left in the 2012 NFL playoffs.
Torrey Smith, Baltimore Ravens
1 of 4Torrey Smith has had an excellent rookie season with the Baltimore Ravens. He was arguably the team's best receiver this season, as he hauled in 50 receptions for 841 yards and seven touchdowns.
Smith had only one catch for nine yards in the Ravens' victory over the Houston Texans, so he'll likely be looking to impress this week against the New England Patriots.
Still, the Ravens have to be thrilled with the production they've gotten from the speedy receiver in just his first season.
Prince Amukamara, New York Giants
2 of 4Prince Amukamara has not been on the field much this season due to injuries, but when he's played for the New York Giants, he's done well.
He had an interception and 14 tackles in the regular season despite only playing in seven games. Moreover, he has done well in the playoffs as he recorded two tackles against the Atlanta Falcons and was a big help in limiting the Green Bay Packer high-powered offense last week.
He has a bright future for the G-Men.
Kendall Hunter, San Francisco 49ers
3 of 4Kendall Hunter has been a dependable backup running back for the San Francisco 49ers this season. He had 473 yards and two touchdowns on 112 carries this season.
In the 49ers first (and only) playoff game against the New Orleans Saints, Hunter had six carries for 23 yards and one reception for 13 yards.
With Frank Gore in the lineup, Hunter is certainly not the go-to guy, but he gets his touches and he is productive with them.
Nate Solder, New England Patriots
4 of 4Nate Solder may not get much glory playing the right tackle position for the New England Patriots, but the offensive line is integral in keeping Tom Brady clean, and most importantly upright, so he can make plays.
Solder started 13 games in the regular season for the Patriots this season, and was also in the starting lineup in the Patriots divisional round game against the Denver Broncos.
