Joe Philbin Dolphins: Miami Makes a Fantastic Decision on New Head Coach
The Miami Dolphins have hired Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin to be their next head coach, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, and this is a great hire for the team.
According to Yahoo Sports, the choice for Miami's new head coach came down to Philbin and Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.
The Dolphins need more help on offense than on defense, which makes Philbin's hire the smart move.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Philbin has done a fantastic job in helping the Packers' passing offense become one of the best in the NFL, and his success with quarterbacks will help a Dolphins passing attack that ranked 23rd in football this season.
One of the most highly coveted free-agent quarterbacks of the offseason is Matt Flynn, who enjoyed success in Philbin's offense with the Packers.
Flynn's historic Week 17 performance against the Detroit Lions in which he threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns made the Packers quarterback a top free agent.
The Dolphins haven't had a top-tier quarterback since Dan Marino retired in 1999, and the team's lack of playoff success since then can be mostly attributed to their poor quarterback play.
Flynn has all the makings of a very good quarterback, and he could definitely improve a Miami offense that started to play much better after starting this season 0-7.
With Philbin in Miami, Flynn would likely feel more comfortable joining his offense which he knows than join another team with an offense he could be unfamiliar with.
Let's not forget that Philbin did a fantastic job in developing Rodgers into arguably the best quarterback in football.
Rodgers didn't step right into the league and immediately shine. He was Brett Favre's backup in Green Bay before getting the chance to lead the franchise, and certainly benefited from Philbin's teaching.
Philbin is a smart coach and is well deserving of a head coaching job. He is a great choice to lead the Miami Dolphins back among the NFL's elite franchises.
