UFC 145 Montreal Canned; Munoz Hurt so Bisping in to Fight Sonnen

Dwight WakabayashiJun 7, 2018

We all remember the drama and fighter shifting that surrounded UFC 137 last November and how it made the end of 2011 one like no other. Remember Nick Diaz was out and Carlos Condit was in to face GSP, then Diaz was back in to face Penn and then GSP was out. On and on it went, but in the end, UFC 137 turned out to be a decent card.

2012 says that there is much more where that came from as two bombs were dropped by the UFC today. The first was that UFC 145 Montreal, originally set for March 24th has been postponed to a later date in the year. The second was that Mark Munoz has been injured and is out of his fight against Chael Sonnen on January 29th.

With the Munoz injury comes the news that Michael Bisping will step up to replace Munoz and now Bisping vs Sonnen is on. That news came directly via Dana White's Twitter account. The news of this fight proves that injuries and fighter shifts are not always a bad thing, and I can't wait to see what Sonnen has in store for Bisping. I don't think Bisping has what it takes to beat Chael.

ESPN smear stories aside, the first big news of the day, especially from a Canadian perspective is that UFC 145 Montreal has been postponed to a later date due to scheduling issues. It's is unknown what will happen to the fights already announced for that card. Many Canadians such as Mark Bocek, Rory MacDonald, Mark Hominick and Chris Clements were already announced for bouts on the card.
