NFL Playoffs 2012: Gary Kubiak and Postseason's Most Overrated Coaches
The Houston Texans postseason charge and regular season success is largely due to the presence of Wade Phillips as a defensive coordinator.
This is the sixth season in Houston for Gary Kubiak, yet this is his first year with a winning record. His overall record is 47-49, much of the roster isn't different than it was last year. The difference is Phillips, he deserves most of the credit for the Texans' success.
Kubiak isn't the only one, here are a few other coaches that get a little too much credit:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
John Harbaugh
What exactly is John Harbaugh's specialty? He spent much of his career before he became a head coach as a special teams coach. His other jobs have been on both sides of the ball. That balance would seem to create a equally balanced head coach, and the Ravens are 44-20 under Harbaugh.
The issue here is that the Ravens have failed to develop a formidable offensive attack. Their futility on that side of the ball has wasted a dominant defense led by the greatest middle linebacker that ever lived. That's Ray Lewis for those that have been living in Atlantis.
If the Ravens don't win the Super Bowl this year, Lewis will likely retire with just one ring. That is a travesty, and some of that blame falls on Harbaugh.
John Fox
Fox is one of the most respected head coaches in the NFL, yet he has had only three winning seasons on his coaching career. He has led a team to the Super Bowl in 2003 with the Carolina Panthers, but even Barry Switzer has led a team to a Super Bowl, and he won in his appearance.
It took Fox five games before he was forced to play Tim Tebow at QB. Great coaches abandon their conventional schools of thought. They devise schemes to fit the personnel, they don't attempt to make players fit their schemes.
The fact that Fox had to be dragged kicking and screaming into Tebowmania is a discredit to his recognition of talent and his willingness to adapt. In fact, until last week, he was still handicapping Tebow, and it was hurting the Broncos.
A better coach would have been on board sooner.
