WWE SmackDown Preview: A World Title Rematch, Sheamus/Mahal and More

Kyle SchadlerJun 7, 2018

Tomorrow night WWE presents a new episode of SmackDown.

This past Monday’s Raw was a bit lackluster and WWE looks to make up for that with another World Heavyweight Championship match on the Friday night show.

WWE has scheduled two matches, but there are a few other things to consider going into the show.

Let’s see what WWE has in store for the fans on Friday’s SmackDown.

Is This Drew McIntyre’s Last Chance?

Two weeks ago, Drew McIntyre returned to SmackDown but general manager Teddy Long questioned his use on the Friday night show and booked him in a match to prove himself.

If the Scottish superstar won, then he could stay on SmackDown but if he lost, then Teddy Long would consider firing him.

McIntyre would go onto face Ezekiel Jackson later on in the night and lose the match.

Last week Teddy Long gave him another shot as he faced Santino Marella. Unfortunately for him, Marella would win the match.

Backstage after the match, the general manager said he’d give McIntyre one more chance and tomorrow night is that chance.

Can Drew McIntyre finally win his way onto the SmackDown roster or will another lose result in him losing his job?

What’s Next for Cody Rhodes?

When Cody Rhodes won the Intercontinental Championship his career really took off.

On top of that, the title itself gained some prestige that it lost over the past few years, especially when Rhodes brought back the classic design of the title.

Rhodes has taken down all challengers including his latest threat, Booker T.

After a series of three matches, Rhodes came out on top and retained his title over the wrestling veteran.

Booker has proved that he can still go in the ring and Rhodes proved to be a great champion.

Now the Intercontinental champion is left without an opponent.

We must consider his older brother Dustin Rhodes, better known as Goldust, as a possible challenger, though.

Will Dustin Rhodes put on the Goldust makeup one more time or will someone else rise to the occasion?

Sheamus vs. Jinder Mahal

Since his debut, Jinder Mahal hasn’t really done much.

He and the Great Khali could have been contenders for tag-team gold but Khali left WWE leaving Mahal to get beaten down.

Recently, one of those wrestlers to beat down Mahal has been Sheamus.

For the past month Mahal has interrupted Sheamus and the Celtic Warrior would answer by destroying him.

After some help from Wade Barrett last week, Mahal was able to gain some momentum and apply his Camel Clutch, choking out the Irish superstar.

After that incident this match was setup and these two will go on-on-one to settle things once and for all.

Will the Great White Sheamus continue his dominance on SmackDown or can Jinder Mahal finally win a match?

Will the Funkasaurus Make an Appearance?

After weeks and weeks of hype, Brodus Clay finally made his WWE debut this past Monday on Raw.

When the funky music hit, Brodus Clay strutted out to the ring.

He was the Funkasaurus and was not what anyone was expecting.

He quickly squashed his opponent Curt Hawkins then proceeded to dance with his backup dancer.

Clay made quite the debut on Raw and he made in immediate impact.

With talent appearing on both brands nowadays, will the Funkasaurus Brodus Clay make an appearance on SmackDown? If so, can he funk his way to victory once again?

Daniel Bryan vs. The Big Show: No DQ, No Count-Out Match for the World Heavyweight Championship

At TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs Big Show defeated Mark Henry in a chairs match to finally win the World Heavyweight Championship after a nine year hunt.

The reign only lasted for 45 seconds, though, thanks to Daniel Bryan.

After Henry took out his frustration over the lose by delivering a DDT to the Big Show on a steel chair, Bryan took that opportunity to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and win the title.

Last week Big Show got his rematch and when it became clear for Bryan that he couldn’t defeat the World’s Largest Athlete, he approached the World’s Strongest Man, who was on commentary, and he pushed the champion down to the ground.

Big Show was disqualified and Bryan retained his title.

On Raw, Bryan told Big Show that he could have a rematch anytime, anywhere so Big Show made it for tomorrow night’s SmackDown in a no disqualification, no count-out match.

Can Daniel Bryan survive another challenge from the Big Show or can Big Show take the gold?

Tomorrow night’s SmackDown is looking like a good show!

Tune in tomorrow night to see what happens!
