WWE News: Very Latest on Plans for the WWE Network and Its Delayed Launch
The WWE has run commercials and advertisements promoting the launch of the WWE Network for a couple months now.
The only definitive things we’ve gotten out of these commercials, though, is what type of content the channel will have and that it will launch at some point in 2012.
Though the WWE never announced an official launch date for the WWE Network, numerous wrestling Websites reported that it would begin airing on April 1, the same day as WrestleMania 28.

That’s not going to happen, though, as news broke earlier this week that the launch of the network had been postponed until later in the year. And now, we have the very latest on the expected launch date and Vince McMahon’s new plans for the network.
"The WWE Network delay has been confirmed as several key people involved were told this past week. Nobody knows the new launch date yet but people were told to get rid of all April 1st mentioned. Word going around at RAW was that it will launch this Fall.
Vince McMahon is looking to get more Legends involved with the Network and has reportedly reached out to people who in the past he wouldn't have.
A reality show, presumably Legends House, will begin filming soon and will go for 21 weeks, including post-production. The house will be in the Palm Springs area and 10 episodes will be shot.
"
As most other sites are reporting, there is now no definitive launch date for the WWE Network, because “the fall” indicates that it could happen anytime between September and December.
My early guess is November to coincide with the Survivor Series pay-per-view, but like I mentioned, that’s purely a guess on my part.
That being said, the delayed launch date really is a blessing in disguise, as it will give WWE officials tons of time to tweak any minor problems the network might have, get more clearances and see what will or will not work.
It should also allow Vince McMahon to do what he is reportedly doing and “get more legends involved with the Network.” A good portion of the people who purchase the WWE Network will likely be old school fans who want to see legends that they watched while growing up.
While the WWE already has great relationships with a number of legends and Hall of Famers, this gives the company more time to reach out to more legends who could help improve the overall quality of the network.
As great as seeing someone like “Rowdy” Roddy Piper might be, it’s going to get really old really fast if we have to sit there and watch him on every show about WWE legends.
Perhaps this delayed launch date will allow Vince to get some legends involved in the network who we never thought we’d see on WWE programming again.
