Manchester United Transfer News: Red Devils Should Pounce on Gary Cahill
Don't you just love the transfer window?
The talk over the past two days has been that Chelsea will withdraw their offer for Bolton defender Gary Cahill if he doesn't agree to the £22 million contract offer currently on the table.
And Blues' manager Andre Villas-Boas is growing weary of the process, as yesterday, The Mirror reported the squad would move on if he didn't agree to the deal today.

Well, today has come, and Villas-Boas had the following to say:
""It's all part of negotiation. I'm sure all parties are protecting their interests and we'll reach an agreement. I think soon.
"I feel it's unfair for me to put the reasons for the delay into the public eye. The delay isn't a negative. It's just something that's happening.
"It should be concluded soon and that's a positive. Hopefully we can reach an agreement. It's part of business. I'm okay with it.
"But we kept a couple of other options available and we can act quickly if that's the case. But I'm pretty confident it will happen."
"
Indications are that other squads are interested in the defender, though Bolton manager Owen Coyle has denied that. From The Mirror:
"It has been suggested rival suitors have made their interest in Cahill known. However, this is news to Coyle, who insisted Chelsea remain the only current option for Cahill.
"If other clubs are linked with him it is just speculation," he said. "We have agreed a fee with Chelsea. I have had no dialogue with any other club.
"
Whatever the delay may be, now would be the time for Manchester United to make their move if they are interested in acquiring the defender. Something has delayed the negotiations between Cahill and Chelsea for two weeks now, after all.
And the speculation as to United's potential interest in the defender remains..
From Life's a Pitch:
"“I get this feeling with Cahill that he might be thinking Man Utd are monitoring the situation,” says Ian Ridley of The Daily Express. “They might come in with a late bid, given that [Rio] Ferdinand looks like he might be going, and given the various injury problems in the squad.”
"
With a Premier League championship in sight, the Red Devils should pounce on Cahill while he is still wavering on a transfer to Chelsea. It has already been rumored that Cahill would be perfectly happy to stay put until the summer before making a move to Manchester United or Tottenham.
Why wait that long, United?
