Jordan Jenkins Commits to Georgia: Why the Bulldogs Can Expect an Instant Impact

Randy ChambersJan 10, 2012

The Georgia Bulldogs were able to turn around their season after losing two early games to South Carolina and Boise State. They went ahead and won 10 games straight before losing the final two games of the year.

A big reason for the Bulldogs' turnaround was the amount of young talent that is on this football team. This team is loaded on both sides of the ball, and it was really just a matter of time before they figured things out (Of course, a weak schedule also played a part in their success as well.).

Georgia will be adding to this talented team with a fantastic recruiting class that recently got even better. Defensive end Jordan Jenkins made his commitment to Georgia yesterday. Jenkins is a 4-star player on Rivals.com and a 5-star player on Scout.com.

Jenkins is a 6'3", 246-pound athlete that has great speed and is extremely explosive off the football. He gets to the quarterback in a hurry and makes a ton of plays in the backfield. He never gives up on the play and pursues the ball very well.

Jenkins is a difference maker on the defensive line and is a difference maker that every great line needs, especially in the SEC, where it seems like you need a great defense to survive in that conference.

Georgia has a solid defense already, but with the addition of this top prospect, they have gotten that much better.

You can also expect him to make an immediate impact with Georgia thin on the line. DeAngelo Tyson is graduating this season, along with Candler Cook. Jenkins is one of those players that can step in right away and make a difference.

Georgia was tied for 15th in the country in sacks this year, with 35. They should be able to repeat those numbers next year and possibly compete for an SEC title.
