Georgia Football Recruiting: DE Jordan Jenkins a Huge Pickup for Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off an impressive season, notching 10 wins and losing by just three points to No. 17 Michigan State in the Outback Bowl.
They averaged 32.0 points per game while allowing just 20.6 points per game, good for 23rd in the nation.
Now, after reportedly grabbing local defensive end Jordan Jenkins of Harris County High School, the Bulldogs are set up to continue their success.
Jenkins, at 6'3", 245 pounds, is the No. 61 recruit in the 2012 class, according to ESPNU. He's a very active player, using his hands well to get around blocks, and he has the ability to be disruptive as a pass-rusher. Jenkins does need some polishing, but his strength, size and work ethic project him to a be productive player for the Bulldogs.
Keep in mind, Jenkins is not the first top-150 player to land with Georgia. For a team that finished the season ranked No. 16 in the BCS standings, they certainly haven't taken a step back in the offseason. In addition to Jenkins, the Bulldogs also nabbed running back Keith Marshall (No. 6 overall), offensive tackle John Theus (No. 28) and defensive tackles Jonathan Taylor (No. 51) and John Atkins (No. 122).
It has the Bulldogs set up to go to the SEC title game for the second year in a row next season after edging South Carolina in the SEC East this season. Unfortunately, they will probably face LSU or Alabama in the SEC title game, and we all know how that worked out for them this season (a 42-10 thumping at the hands of LSU).
Nonetheless, they will still have quarterback Aaron Murray, who passed for over 3,100 yards and 35 touchdowns this season. Their offense in particular will be hard to stop.
Bulldogs fans should be thrilled with how recruiting has gone this offseason.
