WWE: Is Triple H Ready to Assume More of Vince McMahon's Duties in a Few Months?
In July 2010, the WWE did an angle where Vince McMahon was removed from power and replaced by Triple H.
Only, we all knew that this storyline really mirrored what will inevitably happen down the road: Triple H taking over the WWE once Vince is done with it.
Many have speculated that Vince will not truly cede control of the company until he dies, but even if that is the case, most still expect Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to be the eventual successors to the WWE empire.

In fact, the real-life shift in power is already taking place.
Triple H has focused more on his backstage role in the company and less on his in-ring career over the last year or so, while Stephanie plays a big part in the WWE’s creative process.
While the power of both Triple H and Stephanie is growing, make no mistake about it—Vince is still the one running the show and likely will do so until he’s on his last legs.
However, a report from F4Wonline.com (via SEScoops.com) indicates that the original plan was for Triple H to take over the day-to-day operations (in other words, Vince’s duties) in the near future:
"While nothing is set in stone, the current plan is for Vince McMahon to remain in his role until WrestleMania 28 – when his son-in-law Triple H really would take over Vince’s position as the ‘top dog’ in WWE. Even after Vince turns over the reigns to Triple H, he will obviously remain very influential, overseeing the corporate and creative aspects of the company’s operations.
"
The question is: Is Triple H ready to take on even more responsibilities?
With all due respect to Triple H, I would say no.
While I have no doubt that Triple H will be ready eventually, I just don’t see that happening all that soon because of two primary reasons: his inexperience in his backstage role and the fact that he’s not yet retired from in-ring competition.
Although Triple H has obviously been around the professional wrestling business for most of his adult life, he has only been working in some sort of backstage capacity for less than two years.
In 2010, he was named an Executive Senior Advisor, and last year, he was named the Executive Vice President, Talent. Therefore, regardless of what kind of backstage influence he’s had in the past, his experience actually working there is minimal.
Say what you want about Vince, his age and his shaky booking at times, but he is the greatest wrestling promoter to ever live, and he is the main reason why the WWE has been as successful as it has been up to this point.
The process of Vince seceding control to Triple H cannot be done in a year or two. It is a long and gradual one that will take years upon years before Vince can really be comfortable with the WWE being completely in the hands of Triple H and Stephanie.
And Triple H simply needs more experience before he can even think about having more responsibilities.
Like I said, this isn’t knock on Triple H. The fact is that—like Jim Cornette recently said—no one will ever be able to replace Vince McMahon as the head of the WWE.
In fact, I do not think Triple H should be taking on any more of Vince’s duties until he hangs up his boots for good and is able to dedicate himself entirely to his backstage duties.
The simple fact of the matter is that everyone in the professional wrestling business has some sort of ego—insert Triple H joke here—and it will be incredibly hard for Triple H to effectively book the WWE until he has completely removed himself from what goes on in the ring.
If Triple H is still a semi-active performer, then he is likely going to place himself in high-profile storylines and take precious TV time away from the future stars of the company. It’s just human nature to give yourself more opportunities than you give others (if possible), and I don’t see Triple H being able to avoid doing that.
He needs to end his in-ring career before his backstage one really takes off because there are too many conflicts of interest when an active wrestler books the show.
I respect Triple H for everything he has done, but he’s not ready to step up and fill the shoes of the most successful man in wrestling history. Not just yet.
That’s OK, though, Triple H. No one currently is, nor will they ever be.
The Game just needs to focus on what he’s doing at the moment, and when the times comes several years from now, then he can worry about taking on more responsibilities.
