Alabama vs LSU Predictions: Rematch Will Leave Nearly Everyone Unsatisfied
When the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the LSU Tigers for the second time this year, this time with the BCS championship on the line, it’s going to leave a sour taste in many college football fans’ mouths.
Face it: two teams that already played this season are going to be going to be matching up again when it was already decided LSU was the better team. No matter what happened in the game, they came out on top and then went undefeated through the rest of the season and won the conference.
Alabama sat idle during the SEC championship game and somehow earned a spot in the national title game—something that just seems wrong.
If there weren’t any other deserving teams, this might be acceptable.
However, Stanford and Oklahoma State were one-loss teams that had excellent regular seasons and without a doubt deserved a chance to give the Tigers a run for their money.
They came from different conferences and had bodies of work just solid as the Crimson Tide's.
Instead, they were forced to play each other in an epic “consolation” Fiesta Bowl match up.
There is no further proof needed that the BCS at the very least needs a four-team playoff.
It would allow for far less controversy than the constant drama after the selection committee makes their choice for the championship game and would extend into the other top four bowls.
No matter how good this game is tomorrow night, fans will always be wondering what if?
What if Oklahoma State got a shot at LSU?
What if Stanford was matched up with them?
There are no concrete answers and that is the flaw of the current BCS system without a playoff.
