Clippers' Season Was ABSURD 😵‍💫

NBA Power Rankings with Playoff Odds

Adam HartJun 7, 2018

How the shortened season will affect title contenders will be determined within the following weeks.

Players are beginning to become injured, and with games being played more often, it means they will miss more games.

How will teams fare without key players?

The Heat almost lost to the Hawks and the Spurs lost to the Thunder by a significant amount without Ginobli.

Here are the power rankings for all 30 teams with complete playoff odds (playoff odds being given in percentages where the closer the number is to 100 percent, the better the chance of making the playoffs. i.e. "I am 99 percent sure the Bulls will make the playoffs").

Enjoy!

30. Washington Wizards

1 of 30

Record: 0-8

Previous Rank: 29

Playoff Odds: 5%

The Washington Wizards are the only winless team in the league. John Wall has yet to show up as a prominent PG.

Now two weeks in, the Wizards are playing extremely poorly. Flip Saunders is on the hot seat and captain Andray Blatche is not leading.

As one of the youngest teams in the league, there are several players, including Wall and Blatche, that must step their game up.

While Wall is still in his sophomore season, he must begin to mentor Crawford and Mack on how to become NBA PGs.

29. New Orleans Hornets

2 of 30

Record: 2-6

Previous Rank: 21

Playoff Odds: 5%

As demonstrated in the photo above, the Hornets have been having trouble on both offense and defense.

After starting the season at .500, the Hornets have dropped four games straight. The loss of Chris Paul has not only taken them out of the playoff race, but down to the bottom of their division and conference.

Starting forward Eric Gordon has already begun to have knee problems. His absence would mean the end for the Hornets.

Their second unit has not only failed to provide when the starters are resting, but lack depth.

28. New Jersey Nets

3 of 30

Record: 2-7

Precious Rank: 27

Playoff Odds: 10%

While Brooke Lopez's foot injury is doing well, there is still no timetable for his return. This injury seems to have taken all the spark out of the Nets' rim presence.

Turkish basketball club legend, Deron Williams, has struggled to find his mojo on a team searching for an offensive presence.

After a loss to the Wade-less Heat, the Nets find themselves second-worst in the Eastern Conference.

Los Angeles Lakers v Oklahoma City Thunder

27. Detroit Pistons

4 of 30

Record: 2-6

Previous Rank: 30

Playoff Odds: 10%

After a blowout loss to the Knicks, 103-80, the Pistons will have to brace themselves for the tough schedule ahead.

With games against the Bulls and the Mavs coming up, the Pistons will have to resolve their backcourt problems regarding Brandon Knight and Ben Gordon.

Their top scorer, Greg Monroe, has yet to take charge of the team. Without his scoring prowess, the Pistons find themselves 30th in the league in points scored.

26. Charlotte Bobcats

5 of 30

Record: 2-6

Previous Rank: 24

Playoff Odds: 15%

The Bobcats haven't been the most productive team in the league.

They have won just one road game, and the level of play on the road has decreased greatly.

After drafting Kemba Walker, who has shown promise, they still lack dominance under the rim. Without a big man to grab rebounds and post up, teams with more experienced centers will dominate them under the rim. This explains their losses to the Pacers and the Magic.

25. Golden State Warriors

6 of 30

Record: 2-6

Previous Rank: 17

Playoff Odds: 20%

The Golden State Warriors have struggled due to injuries in the past week. They have lost several key games that could have been won with the help of an injured Curry.

Another team plagued by center issues, the Kwame Brown/Andris Biedrins combination could limit the free-throw potential of the team, and the low-post game.

24. Houston Rockets

7 of 30

Record: 2-6

Previous Rank: 18

Playoff Odds: 25%

Defensive issues have caused the Rockets to dip to 29th in points allowed.

While they did have a near-win against the Thunder, the Rockets are not having much luck in the W column (more than the Wizards, yet still not that good).

Kyle Lowry has been averaging a double-double and Luis Scola is playing his usual solid brand of basketball.

23. Milwaukee Bucks

8 of 30

Record: 2-6

Previous Rank: 19

Playoff Odds: 25%

The success of Brandon Jennings and Andrew Bogut has been the shining light in the failures of Stephan Jackson and Carlos Delfino.

Jennings is their leader in points, steals and assists.

Jennings is the lead actor and everyone else are supporting actors in this play. Yet in order for them to progress to the playoffs, the supporting actors must step up for the Bucks.

22. Sacramento Kings

9 of 30

Record: 3-6

Previous Rank: 22

Playoff Odds: 25%

The sacking of Paul Westphal and the DeMarcus Cousins trade issues are shaking up the Sacramento Kings' franchise. Possible talks of a move to San Francisco aren't helping.

Consistency on offense and rim domination are holding the Kings back from a playoff berth.

The team has a ton of guys who can shoot the deep ball, but not enough team chemistry is the main issue for the Kings.

21. Toronto Raptors

10 of 30

Record: 3-5

Previous Rank: 25

Playoff Odds: 40%

The Raptors rely heavily on the scoring of one man.

Andrea Bargnani, like Greg Jennings, is putting the team on his back. He and DeRozan are the only players that can score. And like LeBron demonstrated with Cleveland, one man cannot bring a team to the NBA Finals.

Although the team struggles offensively, the Raptors do put up a battle defensively, allowing just 92 PPG.

It is going to be a tough season for the Raptors, who are 26th in the NBA in points scored and 11th in points allowed.

20. Cleveland Cavaliers

11 of 30

Record: 4-4

Previous Rank: 23

Playoff Odds: 50%

The 2011-12 Cavaliers are a major improvement over the 2010-11 LeBron-less team.

While they don't possess the talent the Heat might, draft pick Kyrie Irving seems to have brought some life into a team that seemed dead.

While Irving has not yet replaced LeBron's leadership and court presence, he boasts decent stats and is an excellent partner for Antawn Jamison.

Currently sitting seventh in the Eastern Conference, the Cavs might be a playoff team this year.

19. Minnesota Timberwolves

12 of 30

Record: 3-5

Previous Rank: 20

Playoff Odds: 30%

The Timberwolves have made quite the acquisition after getting Ricky Rubio.

Most recently, Rubio came off the bench against Washington to get a double-double and help the Wolves defeat the Wizards 93-72.

While the Timberwolves are lagging behind in the Western Conference, their second unit is loaded with talent and depth and could be the deciding factor for their playoff run.

Kevin Love has almost been out-shined as a starter by Rubio's performance. People are forgetting that he is putting up 26 PPG and is a prominent figure in the MVP race.

18. Phoenix Suns

13 of 30

Record: 4-4

Previous Rank: 26

Playoff Odds: 40%

While the Suns seem to be getting progressively better since their opening night loss to the Hornets, their starters are not living up to the expectations set for them, and they do not have the attacking prowess that top teams possess.

Much of the time, their offensive attempts seem feeble to say the least. Many players look as if their running around in circles.

If the Suns do not clean up their act offensively, it is going to be very tough to win a playoff spot over the Mavs and the Grizzlies.

17. Dallas Mavericks

14 of 30

Record: 4-4

Previous Rank: 16

Playoff Odds: 45%

The reigning NBA champions are failing to play the way they did against Miami.

The loss of Tyson Chandler and the addition of Vince Carter has eliminated the prospect of bringing youth back to the franchise. With many of their starters over 30, younger, more agile teams are out-working them.

Maybe the team has yet to create chemistry and understanding between the players, but if they do not fix their offensive problems soon, they might not even make the playoffs.

16. Memphis Grizzlies

15 of 30

Record: 3-5

Previous Rank: 15

Playoff Odds: 50%

After finishing last season's postseason incredibly strong, expectations for this young team were through the roof. When they started the season below .500, they were criticized for being failures. These statements are very untrue.

They might not be failures, but if Rudy Gay does not find a comfortable playing style and rhythm, this Memphis team will not finish the season over .500.

15. Boston Cetics

16 of 30

Record: 4-4

Previous Rank: 9

Playoff Odds: 55%

The Celtics' Big Three is getting old. They can still do what they need to, but they might not be around for much longer.

They are relying on Rajon Rondo, who is playing better than ever before, yet cannot carry this team to a championship.

Jermaine O'Neal may soon be replaced by Greg Stiemsma, who is turning into quite a productive center.

14. New York Knicks

17 of 30

Record: 4-4

Previous Rank: 12

Playoff Odds: 60%

The Knicks are a playoff team, there's no doubting that. It is whether or not they will be able to stay towards the top of the Eastern Conference that is the question.

In order for them to do so, Amar'e Stoudemire must stay healthy. Iman Shumpert must get at least as much playing time as Landry Fields and Toney Douglas as well.

Tyson Chandler is exerting his dominance in the low post, and must be kept near the rim to be able to grab rebounds and initiate counterattacks.

13. Orlando Magic

18 of 30

Record: 6-3

Previous Rank: 13

Playoff Odds: 65%

While many other teams have their eyes on Dwight Howard, as long as he's playing for the Magic, they will make the playoffs and win games.

Hedo Turkoglu has shown his point-scoring abilities and that he is a valid partner for Howard. Ryan Anderson has been a three-point shooting fiend.

However, their second unit is struggling and could perform better.

12. Utah Jazz

19 of 30

Record: 5-3

Previous Rank: 28

Playoff Odds: 65%

The Jazz have moved up 16 spots in the power rankings this week.

Al Jefferson is killing it out there for the Jazz, leading the team in points, rebounds and blocks.

While Gordon Haywood and Devin Harris got off to a shaky start of the season, they have made significant improvements, helping the team win four straight games.

11. Philadelphia 76ers

20 of 30

Record: 5-2

Previous Rank: 14

Playoff Odds: 70%

The 76ers' roster has not changed much since last year. They expected some players to step up and take charge of the team.

And they did exactly that.

Lou Williams is averaging 17 points per game and the second unit is playing well.

While the 76ers may not make the biggest playoff splash of the season, if they continue to improve gradually, they will be out there with the Heat and the Bulls.

10. L.A. Clippers

21 of 30

Record: 4-2

Previous Rank: 11

Playoff Odds: 80%

The Clippers' roster is full of talent, there is no denying they will be a great time at some point.

But until then, one must understand the chemistry between Blake Griffin and Chris Paul is not where it needs to be yet. While it has gotten progressively better, neither player is completely comfortable with the other.

Because of all the new players on the team, this team will need time to gel.

9. Atlanta Hawks

22 of 30

Record: 6-3

Previous Rank: 8

Playoff Odds: 75%

Atlanta has turned into one of the most dominant teams in the East.

Starting point guard Jeff Teague has proved that he can stop the ball and control the league's top PGs.

Joe Johnson is an extremely talented SG who can lead the Hawks to playoff glory. This is his season for redemption, and he will follow through after last season's poor performance.

8. Indiana Pacers

23 of 30

Record: 6-2

Previous Rank: 10

Playoff Odds: 75%

Roy Hibbert has continued his low-post dominance and point-scoring abilities for the Pacers.

New additions David West and George Hill have proved their potential for the team and can form a deadly partnership that would be vital for Indiana's success.

The Pacers will surprise everyone this year. They are now third in the Eastern Conference and a contender against Orlando and New York.

7. L.A. Lakers

24 of 30

Record: 6-4

Previous Rank: 6

Playoff Odds: 80%

Andrew Bynum has been LA's X-Factor. The difference he's made for this team is quite extraordinary.

With the departures of Lamar Odom and Shannon Brown, Mike Brown is still searching for the right rotation. The problem is he has three small forwards when he only wants to play two, and two backup shooting guards when he only wants to play one.

Yet these problems will soon be resolved and the Lakers will continue to flex their muscles in the Western Conference.

6. Denver Nuggets

25 of 30

Record: 6-3

Previous Rank: 7

Playoff Odds: 85%

The stat that caught my eye about the Nuggets was that they are second in the league in points scored, and 20th in points allowed.

While their defense and low-post dominance may be crippled due to Nene Hilario's injury, the Nuggets are a very strong force offensively.

They are a team that could surprise everyone midseason when all of their players are healthy and playing well together.

5. Portland Trail Blazers

26 of 30

Record: 6-2

Previous Rank: 4

Playoff Odds: 90%

While it may be odd or unheard of to see the Trail Blazers this high in the rankings, it is true.

They have been dominant at both ends of the court and their second team is one of the best in league.

Camby provides a strong rim presence and Aldridge is a very prolific scorer that will lead them to the forefront of the Western Conference.

4. San Antonio Spurs

27 of 30

Record: 6-3

Previous Rank: 5

Playoff Odds: 95%

The Spurs will start to struggle after the loss of Manu Ginobli to an injured hand, yet it will mean Spurs' second unit players, James Anderson and Daniel Green, will have to step up and take charge.

Tim Duncan, while aging greatly, is still a prominent member of the team.

While the team may not finish with a record as good as previous years, they will be able to defeat most teams.

3. Oklahoma City Thunder

28 of 30

Record: 8-2

Previous Record: 2

Playoff Odds: 100%

Led by Kevin Durant, the Thunder are sure to make the playoffs.

The depth represented by Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka means they will have no trouble on defense or offense.

The Thunder are ready to continue after last year's spectacular postseason, the only setback being Eric Maynor's season-ending injury.

With a solid second unit and incredible starters, the Thunder are almost certain to represent the West in the NBA Finals.

2. Chicago Bulls

29 of 30

Record: 7-2

Previous Rank: 3

Playoff Odds: 99%

The Bulls are not only dominant on the counterattack, they play tremendous defense as well.

They are led by MVP Derrick Rose, who is the best player in the league with the most potential.

With a healthy Carlos Boozer and a stacked frontcourt with Taj Gibson and Joakim Noah, this team may have a chance to take down the Heat.

1. Miami Heat

30 of 30

Record: 8-1

Previous Rank: 1

Playoff Odds: 100%

The Miami Heat have proved they are the most dominant team in the NBA.

While they rely largely on the performances of Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, rookie Norris Cole has become a possible replacement for Mario Chalmers.

Their second unit will need work on defense, but the team looks ready to win it all this year.
