NBA Exec Calls Warriors 'Frustrated'; Rival Says Trade Wouldn't be Until Deadline

While prominent stars on the Golden State Warriors aren't publicly pushing for a major trade, the general vibe within the organization might be different.

ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk cited one executive from a Western Conference team who said the Warriors are "frustrated" as they sit 11th in the West at 21-20.

"Still, the exec, along with another Western Conference rival front office member, said the Warriors have indicated that if they make any moves, it will likely be closer to the trade deadline," Youngmisuk reported.

Golden State has the assets to execute a major blockbuster prior to the Feb. 6 deadline. Andrew Wiggins is making $26.3 million, which would go a long way toward matching salaries. Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody are all promising young talents. And multiple first-round picks could be thrown into the deal as well.

However, three of the most important voices within the franchise have all expressed their belief the Warriors shouldn't be too shortsighted. Head coach Steve Kerr and stars Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have said it's important to keep the team's long-term interests in mind.

It might be a little different if there was a clear solution in the trade market that could significantly raise Golden State's ceiling.

Jimmy Butler is available amid his standoff with the Miami Heat, but the six-time All-Star will bring obvious baggage along with the dilemma presented by either his $52.4 million player option or impending free agency.

A sense of internal frustration from the Warriors is understandable. They missed the playoffs last year and could do so again this season.

For the time being, it doesn't sound like the level of exasperation is so high the front office feels compelled to act.
