NBA Exec Says Bradley Beal Doesn't Have 'Immovable' Contract Amid Suns Trade Rumors
One NBA executive believes that Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal's contract isn't "immovable," although the exec did acknowledge that it was a bad deal.
ESPN's Tim Bontemps relayed the thoughts: "He's a bad contract, but not immovable, if the team that's getting him knows they could also trade him later."
Beal is on a five-year, $251,019,650 contract. He's due $53,666,270 in 2025-26, and he has a $57,128,610 player option in 2026-27. Beal also has a no-trade clause.
The Washington Wizards traded Beal to the Suns in June 2023 to form a new big three with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. However, it hasn't worked out in Phoenix.
Last year's Suns finished sixth in the Western Conference and got swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This year, the 17-19 Suns sit 12th in the Western Conference, and they've lost 11 of 16 games. The Suns made a drastic starting lineup change, removing Beal and center Jusuf Nurkić for Ryan Dunn and Mason Plumlee. Beal has done well in three games as a reserve, though, averaging 20.0 points on 59.1 percent shooting in 31.3 minutes per outing.
On Wednesday, Beal's agent, Mark Bartelstein, released a statement to ESPN's Brian Windhorst amid trade rumors and speculation regarding his client.
"There have been no discussions about trades with the Suns or any other team," Bartelstein said. "Bradley's total focus is on helping the Suns turn things around.
In the end, Beal isn't getting moved unless he waives his no-trade clause. So for now, any trade talk is much ado about nothing until he's willing to do that. And at this time, that doesn't appear to be the case.
