Lil Wayne Says He Wished Kendrick Lamar 'All the Best' with Super Bowl Halftime Show
After it initially appeared that there was tension from Lil Wayne over Kendrick Lamar being chosen over him to be the halftime performer of Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Wayne set the record straight.
During an appearance on The Skip Bayless Show, Wayne, who is a New Orleans native, said he has no ill feelings toward Lamar and personally wished him well for his upcoming performance.
"I've spoken to him and I wished him all the best and told him he better kill it," Wayne said. "You better kill it. You gotta kill it."

When Lamar was first announced as the halftime performer for the Super Bowl, artists and fans didn't hold back in voicing their disappointment that Wayne wasn't chosen to perform in his hometown. Wayne broke his silence on the matter in an Instagram video in September, saying it "hurt a whole lot" that he wasn't booked for the halftime show.
However, it now sounds like the 42-year-old has come to terms with the decision. He was also asked about Lamar name-dropping him on his new GNX album when he rapped, "I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down." Wayne said he didn't take offense over the line.
"There was no explanation needed for that," Wayne said.
