NFL Rumors: Daniel Jones Won't Be Pursued by Cowboys amid Dak Prescott's Injury
The Dallas Cowboys do not appear to be in pursuit of quarterback Daniel Jones.
The Giants released the 27-year-old on Friday after six seasons with the franchise. He is set to clear waivers on Monday and could be an intriguing option for a quarterback-needy team.
With starting quarterback Dak Prescott out for the season with a hamstring injury, the Cowboys could be a team that fits that description. However, NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that the team is "not currently pursuing" Jones.

The Cowboys depth chart currently consists of Cooper Rush and Trey Lance with Prescott unavailable.
In Prescott's absence, Rush has thrown for 566 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and led the team to an 0-2 record. While this production isn't ideal, Dallas is currently 3-7 and would need a miracle to somehow reach the postseason.
Adding Jones could theoretically help the team's contention chances but likely wouldn't move the needle enough to actually lead them into the playoffs. He has been lackluster for the Giants in 2024, throwing for 2,070 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions and leading the team to a 2-8 record prior to his benching after Week 11.
He could have a redemption arc in the right situation but that may have to wait until 2025. Dallas, in the meantime, will roll the dice with Rush and Lance and then hope that Prescott can lead the team to a strong season in 2025.
