Video: Micah Parsons Calls Cowboys 'A Damn Good Football Team' Despite 3-7 Record

Andrew PetersNov 19, 2024

NFL fans have likely lost faith in the Dallas Cowboys after a 3-7 start, but star linebacker Micah Parsons' confidence is unwavering.

After Monday's loss to the Houston Texans, Parsons said he believes Dallas has turned the corner, at least on the defensive end.

"I'm gonna put this out there, we're a damn good football team," he said on The Edge with Micah Parsons. "I know these scores ain't showing it and I know people feel like we've got so many missing pieces... I think our defense has really turned things around. Up until that last quarter when they got that touchdown on defense, we only gave up those two touchdowns in that first quarter. Other than that we gave up six points in the other two quarters."

As Parsons mentioned, the Cowboys gave up 17 points in the first quarter but quickly recovered on defense to limit Houston to just two field goals across the second and third quarters.

The Texans scored on a strip sack in the fourth and their final touchdown came late in the fourth when the game was already out of reach. If Dallas can continue playing defense the way it did for most of the game on Monday, they could get back in the win column sooner rather than later.

One of the reasons why the Cowboys have struggled on defense this year is Parsons missed significant time. The star edge has played just six games, making his return from a high ankle sprain last week. In his first game back from injury against the Philadelphia Eagles, he had a pair of sacks.

Parsons, who had a career-high 14 sacks a year ago, is the catalyst for Dallas' defense and is looking to lead them to a turnaround in the second half of the season.

It's not too late for the Cowboys to make the playoffs, but they would have to be nearly perfect in their final seven games to reach the postseason. They'll start their hunt for a miraculous turnaround next week against the Washington Commanders.
