Video: Cowboys' Micah Parsons Clarifies Postgame Comments on Mike McCarthy
Dallas Cowboys pass-rusher Micah Parsons turned heads with his comments following Sunday's 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but he provided context to the situation Monday.
"I never once threw, or even intended to throw, Mike McCarthy under the bus," he said on The Edge with Micah Parsons. "Like I said, he's one of the most winningest coach. He is a Super Bowl champ. I never once brung up his past. And the question that was asked was about here and the Dallas Cowboys, did I see Mike McCarthy in our future? And I said, 'That's above my pay grade.'

"So not once did I ever intended or wanted to reflect on Mike McCarthy's career because I always knew it was a good one. I've always had a great relationship with Mike McCarthy. And I never even put that in question."
The clarification comes after Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports shared Parsons' postgame comments on Sunday.
"Mike can leave and go wherever he wants," he said. "Guys I kind of feel bad for (are) guys like Zack Martin and guys who might be on their last year or on their way out. Because that's who I wanted to hold the trophy for. You want to win games and do great things with those type of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did.
"Those are the kind of guys that I have so much sympathy and hurt for."
He also said it was "above my pay grade" when asked whether he believes McCarthy will still be the head coach in Dallas next season.
However, the coach said he spoke with Parsons following the comments and "handled things like men," per ESPN's Todd Archer.
Sunday was Parsons' first game since Sept. 26 because of an ankle injury, and he wasted no time making an impact with two sacks. He was a bright spot in an otherwise abysmal performance for the team as a whole.
The Cowboys are now 3-6 and will be without quarterback Dak Prescott for the rest of the season because of a hamstring injury. They are well behind the 7-2 Eagles and 7-3 Washington Commanders in the NFC East and will likely just be playing out the string for the rest of the season.
There is surely plenty of frustration in the locker room, and Parsons' comments created another headline.
Questions about McCarthy and others will only get louder with more losses, but the pass-rusher provided some context to the situation Monday.
