NFL Exec: 'That's Rough' Woody Johnson Entrusted Jets' Future to Aaron Rodgers
The "all-in" New York Jets are now just 2-6 on the season after Sunday's embarrassing loss to the New England Patriots, which featured awful play-clock management, another missed field goal from Greg Zuerlein, plays that are best rewatched with the Benny Hill music in the background and the inability to keep Jacoby Brissett and New England's hodge-podge group of wideouts from orchestrating a game-winning touchdown drive.
Worst of all, the team's commitment to 40-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers has not paid off thus far.
"It just feels like the owner said, 'I'm entrusting our future with Aaron Rodgers,' and look at the results," a league executive told The Athletic's Mike Sando. "That's rough."

It wasn't the only decision Woody Johnson has signed off on that feels like a mistake. Since firing former head coach Robert Saleh, the Jets are 0-3. They've had superstar receiver Davante Adams, picked up in a midseason trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, for two of those contests.
But the decline of Rodgers is apparent. In eight games, Rodgers has thrown for 1,896 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions, taking eight sacks while completing just 61.8 percent of his passes (which is on pace for his lowest mark since 2015). Even his opponents have noticed a shift.
"Yeah, I think he's struggling right now," Patriots defensive tackle Davon Godchaux told reporters. "Just a Hall of Fame quarterback like that, hate to see him go out that way but always gonna take a win against him, look good on your résumé. But, yeah, he definitely don't look the same. You just don't know if he could move back there. (Expletive), I can run him down and catch him. He don't look mobile at all. So it was good for us. We know we can get after him and attack him in the passing game too."
