Commanders' Jayden Daniels: I Couldn't See Noah Brown Catch Hail Mary to Beat Bears
Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels made one of the best plays of the entire 2024 NFL season with his walk-off Hail Mary touchdown pass to Noah Brown in Sunday's win over the Chicago Bears, but he couldn't even see how the play ended.
"I just threw the ball up and gave my guys a chance," he told reporters after the game. When asked if he saw the end of the play he responded, "I just heard people screaming and the sideline rush the field, that's how I knew."

There were two seconds left on the clock when Washington snapped the ball for the final play of the game. Daniels scrambled around for a while to get free to launch a 52-yard pass that Brown caught in the end zone after it was tipped at the goal line:
The win by the Commanders gave Daniels, the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, bragging rights over No. 1 pick Caleb Williams of the Bears. Daniels threw for 326 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions on 21-of-38 passing while adding 52 rushing yards in the victory. Williams finished 10-of-24 for 131 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions with 41 rushing yards.
Washington now leads the NFC East with a 6-2 record, which is a bit of a surprise for a team that entered the year with low expectations. Despite being in his first year as head coach of the Commanders, Dan Quinn has been able to get the best out of his rookie quarterback and the rest of the team.
Daniels and the Commanders will be looking for their third straight win when they return to action next Sunday against the New York Giants, who rank last in the NFC East at 2-5. Washington defeated New York 21-18 in their first meeting in Week 2.
