Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. Apologizes to Angels Fans After Comments on Alex Verdugo
New York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. apologized for recently taking a swipe at the Los Angeles Angels.
While praising Yankees outfielder Alex Verdugo following Saturday's 6-5 win over the Kansas City Royals in Game 1 of the ALDS, Chisholm said, "He lives for this. He's played in big cities before. He played in Boston, he played in L.A., and I'm not talking about the Angels, you know what I mean?"
Chisholm apologized on social media on Sunday:

Verdugo drove in Chisholm with a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning to give the Yankees a one-run win in the series opener.
Chisholm was pointing to Verdugo's experience in the postseason with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox, but he unnecessarily brought up the fact that the Angels haven't made the playoffs since 2014.
However, Chisholm doesn't have much experience in the playoffs himself, as Saturday's outing was just his fourth career postseason game. He went 1-for-4 with the game-winning run, just his second career hit in the playoffs.
The Yankees acquired Chisholm from the Miami Marlins ahead of this season's trade deadline. He made an immediate impact by hitting four home runs in his first three games with the team, marking the first time that has happened in franchise history.
New York is chasing its 28th World Series title and its first since 2009. The team hasn't made it back to the World Series since its last win, so fans have been starving for a return to contention for a title.
Chisholm helped get the Yankees started in the right direction on Saturday, but he will surely learn to avoid more situations that require apologies going forward.
