BCS Bowl Picks: Alabama's Defense Will Lead Tide to Title in LSU Rematch
With the insane amount of points scored in bowl games this season, LSU and Alabama will remind us that defense wins championship when the two SEC powers meet in the BCS national championship game on Monday.
The Crimson Tide's incredible defense will lead them to the national title over the Tigers, and it's very likely we could see another low-scoring game like the one the two team's played in back on Nov. 5.
Alabama's defense allowed only 8.8 points per game this season, which ranked No. 1 in the country this season.
Only four times in their 12 games this year did the Crimson allow more than 10 points in a game, and the most they gave up was 21.
If not for a few missed field goals for Alabama, they would have beaten the LSU in November. In the second meeting, the Alabama offense, especially sensational running back Trent Richardson, will be quite determined to play much better the second time around.
Only two times in SEC play this season did Richardson not rush for 100 yards or more, one of those times was against LSU when he managed just 89 yards on the ground.
Richardson will play better in the rematch because there will be many NFL scouts watching him for the upcoming draft, and with so much on the line personally and for the team, Richardson will respond in a big way.
Safety Mark Barron and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick will be exceptional in the Crimson Tide secondary on Monday, and their ability to tackle well and not make mistakes is so important to the team's success.
The Crimson Tide defense only allowed 239 total yards to the Tigers in the November meeting, and if they can do that again they will win because Richardson and the offense will be better.
The amount of offense in the bowl games this season has been a joke, but Alabama will remind everyone that defense wins championships when they defeat LSU on Monday to win another national title.
