Damian Lillard Calls Out 'F--king Raiders' During Loss to Chargers in NFL Week 1

Zach BacharSep 8, 2024

Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard wasn't impressed after the Las Vegas Raiders fell to the Los Angeles Chargers by the final score of 22-10 in Week 1.

The Oakland native expressed his disappointment with his former hometown team in a post on X.

The Raiders led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter on Sunday, with Alexander Mattison breaking free for a 31-yard touchdown following a short pass from Gardner Minshew.

Las Vegas' offense wasn't able to stay consistent over the final three quarters, scoring just three points throughout the rest of the contest. Minshew and Zamir White both fumbled the ball, while kicker Daniel Carlson missed a 49-yard field goal near the end of the third quarter.

Still, the Raiders remained within striking distance and trailed by just six points with over 10 minutes left in regulation. After the two teams traded possessions, the Chargers finally pushed their lead to double digits following a touchdown grab from rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey.

On the ensuing drive, Minshew was able to lead Las Vegas down to Los Angeles' 32-yard line. However, one of his throws was batted at the line of scrimmage before it was eventually picked off by Chargers defensive tackle Poona Ford to end the game.

As Lillard prepares for the 2024-25 NBA season, he'll be looking for the Raiders to bounce back in their Week 2 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. Kickoff is on Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. ET.
